Thread: Sorry unarmed friends, I have to sell out due to the nerfs.
We do have weapons just give them awhile to make them, you shouldve waited.
I was a TKA expert in beta,
Forget brawling....the devs hosedthe profession due to people whining.
I am weidling a gun and its MUCH better than brawling after the NERF.
Whats funny is on the brawlers profession forums in beta AND live there is cries of "please make our profession viable" yes the dev's do nothing. The marksman forums have not near the "crying" about how it sucks to be a marksmen.(except when they die in pvp to a brawler, brawlers should never win, marksman have guns afterall).
We were crying for help before they nerfed us in beta, then we got the nerf stick...
Now its live.....I think they will eventually work it out..but I am not going to suffer while they think it through.
I'm picking up a rifle and joining the people who do 5-8 x the damage I do. I'm tired of dying to low lvl mobs while marksmen on lower tiers outdamage me without trying.
Devs if you even read these forums:
PLEASE make some changes to UNARMED brawlers.
1) Raise our damage output, it's too way too low. Either raise it or raise our attack speed a hell of alot, to make up for the crappy damage we're doing right now.
2) We need defense. We're the main tanks, and we can barely last in a fight. I take the same damage as ranged users. Where is our defense bonus? I should at least take %25 less damage than a marksman.
3) Our attack speed is pretty the same as marksman...why? We have no weapons, we should have the fastest attack speed of all the professions(except TKA).
4) Our specials are USELESS. The only special I use is stun because it somehow allows me to do 100RANDOMdamage instead of 30-60. This is really screwed up. Why can't we choose which HAM to attack? Why don't our specials do what they're supposed to? And why do they cost so much, especially when they fail 5-9 times(suicide...)?
Why do we have a normal attack speed, LOW damage(worse than novices of other professions), and skills that do nothing?
Please fix this as soon as possible. My scout is currently unplayable. I used to solo, now I'm lucky if I can take out a lair of grubbers without getting incaped when new ones spawn.
The profession is viable. You need the right tools. Vibro knuckles will help you a great deal.
I hate to say this but Im getting real tired of people whinning about a game they've only played for a few days.
I'm not counting thou's in beta although if you had played beta you should have learned about VK's.
Look TKA does have a few issues but over all if you learn to play the class like it should be played and not just run up to stuff and hit attack then you might not have all these problems.

I think you guys are overlooking your advantage at close range. What happens when you get into a fight inside a building. Say you walk into a Cantina and see a few rebel scum standing there. How much help will their rifles be, when you're 10 feet away?
They should probably make the knock down stuff more effective though. After all, if you actually get to a marksman then they should be in trouble.
The close range bonus is a myth.
In a building marksmen and ranged mobs will shoot you THROUGH the walls. Theycan even go OUTSIDE and shoot you while you are INSIDE. You can't hide behind rocks, or the terrain either - the marksmen just shoot right through it.
The problem with brawler is NOT the amount of damage we inflict.
The problem with brawler is the HUGE defensive advantage marksmen and ranged mobs get from kiting.
As long as they are as fast or faster than you, they can just run away while they wear you down to incap. Even if they are not faster than you, it is almost impossible to stay inside the small area where you can hit them. Using /follow helps but often leaves you just outside of attack range. How many times have you queued an attack only to get 'Your target is out of range'? So what's the solution?
1. Lower the cost for special moves. (I think they actually did this - Yeah!)
2. Make lungeSTOPour opponentsfor a period of time. (enough for 1 attack with Lunge1 & 2 with Lunge2).
3. Double themultiplier for damage done to ranged by melee. (Offset kiting marksmendefense advantage)
The reason we need lower cost specials is becuse we take a lot more damage than ranged types and this change reduces our down-time, making it closer to (but still not as good as) the marksmens. The reason you lunge when fighting is to close the distance so you can attack, having a lungethat does no damage and does not allow you to attack is just stupid. The reason for the damage multiplier is to balance out the huge defensive advantage all marksmen get from kiting - this is the single biggest problem with brawlers right now.
I think these changes would fix the problem without creating imbalance in other areas.

I still think part of the problem is that people are thinking in terms of class-based systems where each class/profession should be somewhat balanced with all of the other classes. Because SWG uses a skill-based system that encourages the use of several skills-sets (professions), I dont' understand why people have this pre-conceived notion that NOVICE/BASIC brawlers should have damage output and efficiency equal to that of someone carrying a weapon.
Again, I just look at brawler as a supplemental skill-set ... at least, until you achive TKA Master, and even then, I don't think TKA fighting should outdamage weapons EVERY time. That's my personal opinion. But, then again, I'm not looking at things with EverQuest-colored glasses. I mean, come on, Star Wars is set in a time where there are blasters, laser rifles, grenades, lightning cannons, flamethrower, lightsabers, AT-ST's etc.Do you reallythink a Novice Brawler should be able to conquer the galaxy with just his hands?
