Hello, I am a fencer wannabe. Okay! Enough of the booing! I would like to know what the Brawlers, and Elite Brawler Professions think about asking the devs to put "forms" into the game. An artisan gets ALOT of recipes for crafting items. Some of those items are almost worthless andsome are almost priceless. I think elite melee classes should get something similar to that. We should get a lot more special moves, but some special moves are better than others, and some special moves are just for show.

Extending the idea of special moves for show...most martial arts have some sort of 'forms' practice in which a person goes through a set form in order to demonstrate technical knowledge and proficiency. Think Tai Qi (aka Tai Chi)..did you know that TaiQi is not just a form but a serious martial art?...TKA could do a TaiQi form. Fencers could do a one hand sword form, and etc for the other melee artists. This should be easy to do, but I'm not sure..haven't programed in over 10 years. I am guessing that all the dev's would need to do is allow us to do attack moves without a target. Then we could make up our own sequences and forms and teach them to eachother in game and require others to perform a form in exchange for training (and roleplaying).

Anyone mentioned something like this yet? I think if you like this idea or others, then we can work together to make it happen. All of us elite brawling professions should work together to improve our abilities, and maybe make masic Brawler better too. Sure...never bring a knife to a gunfight...I know we'll never beat a marksman in a field, but we need more substance!

This would be amazing, I'd love to see something like this implemented. Perhaps even a buffing type effect? TKA's get meditate for after combat, what about kata warmup or act such as just described to get the body ready for action. This would make sense for a brawler because any martial artist knows you can't just jump into action, or if you do, you won't be nearly as flexable or tough as you would if prepping beforehand.

But if not any warmup type, just being able to perform your art would still be amazing.

Simplist way would be to program it much like the Flourishes that Musicians and Dancers get.

You start up a form (offensive, defensive, whatever) and your attacks (special and normal) are affected by the form. The moves themselves do not change (not asking to program 30+ more moves ino the game for each elite profession) but if you are in an offenisve form and you use Bodyhit 2 then you do more damage and your defensive skills go down.

SOunds like a solid idea. I'd be happy just to see animations with my movies.

Wow, this would be awesome, just what we need as specialized melee characters! Maybe make it on a timer, and have it be, say, ten moves or so. Then, like mentioned above, start one ofthe types (offensive, defensive, etc) and have flourishes that buff different stats. That way we could give ourselves some basic buffs before battle that could make us last a bit longer in combat! That's one of the best ideas I've heard in a long time, very cool.

On the down side, this would require them to put a whole bunch of animations into the system for each of the brawlers specialists (except TKA who has meditate). They added a bunch for dancers, so, that shouldn't be too much of a problem. In addition though, they'd also have to add this whole new buffing system. The more we go in this game, the more I realize how well they've engineered SWG to be a very expandable game, but, I don't see this as a simple thing they'll get right on. Let's hope.

I'm all for this idea. I've seen this mentioned several times in the TKA forum since that is where I am most of the time, (being a TKA myself).

I don't think it would be to much to ask for something like this considering I've heard tell that the ranged classes are asking for dual wield for their pistols as well as flourish animations to add to the atmosphere and immersion of their profession.

It wouldn't be too much to ask them to design at least 2 Kata animations, one for defensive posture in order to buff our mental stats so we can focus our attacks and be more accurate;

the other kata would prepare us for an offensive posture, buffing hour action and health stats as well as giving us more attack strength.

I don't however, think that our basic defenses should be voided out by using an offensive posture kata. It should remain what it was at normal defense. Just my opinion.

Sadly though, if they can't even fix the problems people are telling them about at the moment, I seriously don't see anything like this being implemented any time in the near future. Try maybe by next spring......and that is if the devs saw this as being something worth working on.
