Ok, so I finally got myself a pair of vibroknucklers from dominous on the eclipse server.. best thing to do. However I notice that when I fight small monsters I tend to miss alot.

I began hunting with a friend of mine who is a marksmen and a particularly deadly one. We went out and monster after monster he could headshot them to death while I would battle it out forever emerging pretty beat up (when I made it out alive at all) this started to frustrate me. He's getting 700 XP for rifle and I'm getting like 280 while he bails me out. I was feeling like just leaving him and going back to stomping some decay, delegged grains of sand for small XP.

Then later I realized something, while he's stomping the monsters, I was stomping on the humans pretty easily. He would for his life while I was stomping then in like 3 or 4 hits. Now your saying "What color difficulty" well they both were dark blue. Why is this? Does this mean brawlers have an advantage against humanoid opponents versus beasts? Either way it was I getting 700 xp while him and his fancy guns would run away.

Sometimes, if the npc is holding a carbine or even moreso a rifle you'll do more damage with melee to them. Also, not all things that have the same con color are created equal. I have quite a range of difficulty on white cons for example. Some creatures are pretty easy and others... aren't (both at advanced and expert unarmed).

Hmm...I'm kinda the opposite. My friend and I (he's got a rifle and does the headshot thing and I'm building up my Teras Kasi novice...god that's a lot of exp to get!) were rumbling around Coronet, Corellia and I hit AT LEAST twice as much as him because I attack faster. Admittedly, I did miss a couple of times which lead to many smartass comments while I pounded away at the creature again. He'd do upwards of 400 damage a hit. I'd do 300-400 a hit, myself while berzerked. Let's do the math, shall we? For every one of his shots, I hit 2-3 times. So that's 400 damage to 600-800 damage for every one of his hits. I was taking a good 2/3 of the exp for every creature. Then there was that poor humanoid that went prone in front of me to shoot my friend. Ahh...858 dmg later he was just asmear in the grass.

I need to go back to school, apparently...

That should be 600-1200 dmg, not 600-800.

Iceman,

Next time you are out hunting those same critters and fellows, click on them and select examine from the radial menu. You might find in the info listed there that they have weaknesses to different kinds of damage. Some critters will be weak to some types of damage and resistant to others. I haven't checked all the critters that I fight myself, but taking paralopes (sp?) for example, I can completely waste them with my pistol but I can't seem to do anything to them at all with my fists. Probably since they have those big ramming horns, they were coded to be resistant to melee. I'll have to check. Even within a weapon group, you can get different types of damage. An example here is my scout blaster does blaster damage, but if and when I get a stryker pistol, I hear that those do kinetic damage.

Anyway, thanks for mentioning your find on the humans; I'll start looking for those guys more to box for my unarmed exp!

I can take paralopes down in 3 hits. Giant grubburs take a couple more. I guess it's just purely random.

Hey Karysk, if you're taking that line from the Scarface song "No Tears", it should actually be "I got this killer up inside of me, can't talk to my mother so I talk to my Diety" (hence why "Dear God" in mumbled in the background afterwards).

Somebody's been watching Office Space.

Just had to set that straight, as I own every single Scarface and Ghetto Boys album and know the words to practically every song.

And, to stay on topic, I've had my vibro's for a week, and they're amazing. Gonna get me a knew pair and slice them myself soon.
