Any advice about armor for brawlers.

Seems that I get a ton more wounds as a brawler and was wondering which armor is the best.

Any advice from you experienced brawlers out there would be appreciated.

Thanks

Bone armor is awesome armor if your on a planet that is heavily stocked with bandits, red, with range weapons. I wear this only when I'm traveling, even if I'm fighting bandits with a group I wont wear Bone Armor because of how much HAM it costs to equip it.

Mabari Armorweave, I recently picked up the breastplate of this type, and so far I have noticed that it does absorb a decent amount of damage, just with the BP alone, 10% kinetic absorbs no more then 95points of damage on red creatures and no less then 75points. After I get a full suit I imagine I'll be pretty tough to beat up with melee. I use this Mabari Armorweave now when I fight anything because I use a 2handed Axe mostly, it doesn't have as bad of HAM cost as Bone Armor.

Like EverQuest I believe that it will rely heavily on the situation for which armor you should carry. When you get the right "weigh reducing" packs you can carry many different sets, as I do now.

I have read that the more armor you wear the more you lose from your hams as you style and berserk. I don't think many brawlers would want to do that just for the simple fact we lose enough when we do special moves and zerk. And a lot of armors only absorb a certain amount of typed (specific) damage. And I haven't seen any with melee damage or impact damage absorbption. I know a lot of people have talked about getting personal shield generators which might be the best bet for a brawler. Just my two cents.

Not only do the HAM costs increase, but when I wear my Armorweave with 9% kinetic protection, I get hit harder than when I'm in my skivveys. So, now I just run around in clothing and I'm doing much better. I also got my Vibro Knuckles and one thing I can say is find melee enhancements for them the balacing ones, they reduce the health cost when you do specials with it. They only work for 100 swings, but they are worth carrying 2 or 3 around on ya.

All i have to say is Mabari armor helps my unarmed brawler alot, i can take alot more hits and i can stay and fight 5 or more creatures at a time if needed

I was going around thinking that armor was just going to make me slower, so i would run around with just a robe on thinking that i could do better with out armor, was i wrong i was taking more hits, getting incaped faster, and dying quicker

now that i got a set of Mabari armor with chiting boots i hardly take any damage from meleeing creatures

just make sure you buy armor that has a good % to kinetics

some people have different opinions about armor, the best way to really find out for your self is to try it.

Hey what's the difference between Mabari and Chitin?

Both have %kinetic but they're on two different categories, one is Special Protection, and the other is something else. So which one counts more??

I use a Mabari Helmet because my mind pool is fairly low and a Mk2 Personal Deflector shield. This combinationseems to work very well against most opposition.

Deflector shields tend to be expensive however and deteriorate very quickly.

Mabari has less encumberance than Chitin. Both types of armor block melee damage, but chitin also blocks blaster damage, at the cost of much heavier penalities on your HAM bar. So even though Chitin is the better armor, most brawlers would recommend you to go with either no armor or go with the lightweight melee blocking Mabari.

I personally use a full suit of Mabari when I solo. I attack the mob and bezerk with no armor on, then after ive bezerked, i equip the set (ive got it on my quickbar). after the fight i take all the armor back off to regen my health quickly.

When i am in a group with a medic i go with no armor, it leads to much quicker regen, and ive got the medic there to heal me in battle if im low.

As far as the effectiveness, i see a huge benefit when i wear my full suit. It seems to be blocking between 20-30% of the damage im taking most hits. Ideally, after Armorcrafters get more advanced and all the bugs are fixed with experimentation, i will probably buy a full suit of Mabari, customized to have as little encumberance as possible, even if it means just blocking a few %'s of damage.

I just started wearing chitin armor for my pikeman and found it helped out alot, it definatly makes me regenerate at a snails pace but think the damage reduction is worth it. Down time afterwards can be a bit slow but I picked up novice medic and just shoot myself full of drugs to speed that up. Prefer my chitin over the armor weave I had before plus it lookstougher

OK.... I put off wearing armor for a while cause of all the stories i was hearing about HAM THIS HAM THAT!!

I bought some chitin the other day and iwth only 2 pieces ( boots and gloves) i was absoirbing about 90 points aof dmg. While my friend was getting hit for 250+ i was getting hit for about 160-170 tops. I didnt notice any difference with my Ham costs cause i use bererk more than anything when in group. If i am going to deal status effects i will remove my VKs and throw on.

As for differences with armor. The best for a brawler is either chitin or ubese. They all have Kinetic dmg somewhat, but for a brawler who is all close up and if your fighting bandits you know they end up changing to melle when you get close. Chitin has an average of 6-10% SPECIAL PROTECTION for kinetic on top of the 6% it already has....give or take. Ubese which not alot can make yet has a 20% special protection towards kinetic. Thats the way to go in my opinion. Get some 2.2 speed 166 dmg Vibro knucklers ( if unarmed) and some ubese...and KILL AWAY.

Just my 2-cents. Flame if you will, but remember....Opinions are like a$$holes. Everyone has'em and they all stink.
