I'm an unarmed brawler, and I've fought a bit with marksmen and other types of brawlers.

First thing you notice is unarmed hits for a lot less damage, but a lot more often. On average, I'd hit 3x more often, buta pikesman would hit for about 3x more damage, so it seems about right.

Weird thing is, when I do specials, there's a huge delay before and after. Not sure if this is lag (I have a 75ms ping time however), or by design, but if I do a special and he does a special, we both have a second or two delay, after which he hits for > 1000 damage and I hit for 350. Then we both go back to regular speed.

This seems odd, because if we both spam specials, we hit at the same speed, and the bigger weapon of course wins out. The net result is I'm finding it's better to never use specials. My attack speed stays constantly high and I get several extra hits which far outweigh the extra 150ish damage I do with my best special attack currently (unarmed remember).

Are others seeing this as well?

Specials do take longer to recover form than normal attacks, it may be that unarmeds multiplier is larger than polearms

I really don't see too much of a delay when using specials such as Stun or Lunge. The only time I see a slow down is when I use a special and then try to use Berzerk. It always takes forever for Berzerk to kick in. But if I do, regular attack, stun and then another regular attack, it seems to be at the normal speed.
