Thread: CU Q / Test: Clearing Wild Lairs

Lots of talk in here about master bralwer or leveling brawler to get someplace else, but I have a Brawler Profession question that is more about the utility of brawler then being an uber fighter.

Can someone with enough points in their template for 3 boxes of any brawler skill be a good enough combatant to clear a variety of low level wild lairs?

Why?

One of my char's current tempaltes is

Master Merchant
Master Architect
Master Artisan
brawler swords 3
scout explore 2

And while not a fighter, pre-curb he does run around with a suit of padded and a 2h curved sword incase he has to clear a kreetle lair or spice fiend camp or other reasonably low level obstruction so that he can place some harvesters.

I know the creature levels are a bit screwy on TC5 right now, but at the end of this whole thing would it be reasonable to think i can still run with this template or are these low levels of brawler skills relatively useless going forward?

Personally I don't think your going to be able to. Sorry I know that is not the answer you wanted. You wil be limited to lower level mobs only. (much lower than what you can do in live)

At what point is brawler useful then?

I'm not looking to tank krayts or even clear dewback or even eopie lairs.

Is it so useless that one can't walk out of a city without being a novice elite? xx4x? stacked/master brawler? Just wondering if post CU there is any utility profession or if its just a lot of XP you need to gain for a novice elite box. If there isn't any utility to it then just squash the skill lines into one big novice elite box with a lot of xp and a pile of mods.

As long as you can use the Curved Sword you will be able to clear those lairs. As long as they're the "low level" ones. 2 Handed tree in Brawler is by far the most powerful n00b tree there is.

My advice...modify your template to drop scout and add Medic. That way you should be fine while clearing those lairs.

Sypris - Engineering Trader Extraordinaire

Um.. it is now, but will it be, and will it have the same utility in terms of the world around us?

And if you look at the certs, 2h curved cert is now at novice swordsman.. at swords 3 you will have a dagger and a 2h axe certs - Nothing Else.

Again, I will ask... is there any point in the brawler profession post CU aside from leveling and using up skillpoints on your way to an elite prof?
