Thread: Confused about defense stacking in the CU

Before we got any real info about the CU, people used to say that defense stacking was going away. But seeing the new skill trees it seems to me that there still is defense stacking in the CU. Granted, most (all?) secondary defenses have been removed which by itself removes some of the defense stacking. But there is still melee and ranged defense. Don't they stack like before? What else stacks in the CU?
Also, has the 125 cap been lifted on melee/ranged defense? If yes, what does this really mean? Will some templates become nearly impossible to hit? Or has the entire meaning of melee/ranged defense changed?
If all of this has been answered before, please direct me to where I can read about it.
defense stacking is not going away, but offense stacking is comming, and big time. Also, the combat rolls are not going to be linear anymore. so the first +50 melee defense is going to be a lot more effective than say the 50 meee dense stacked on top of the 200 you may have already had. Make sense?
Intuitively yes. But I would love to see some hard data about how melee/ranged defense vs accuracy affects the chance to avoid attacks.

Please explain what is "offense stacking" is ? You can stack defenses, but offense ?
It reads like "general ranged accuracy" and "general ranged speed" for example. These modifiers can be found in several ranged professions, so if you for example have pistoleer and rifleman, they will add up.
According to the Character Builder, the combination of Master Pistoleer and Master Rifleman for example would leave you with these skills:
General Ranged Accuracy +180
General Ranged Speed +40
Pistol Accuracy +40
Pistol Speed +45
Rifle Accuracy +85
Rifle Speed +65
If you then use a pistol, you'll effectively have an accuracy of 225 and speed of 85. With a rifle you'd have an accuracy of 265 and speed of 105.

Not only do the general accuracy speed mods stack but you can use cross proffession offensive moves. For example if you are a fencer/swordsman you can use the armorbreak move with your fencer weapon. And you can use the bleed move with your sword.

lets just hope this happens, with the ubahh nunas pwning everyting, we need barrels of speed and accuracy
