Thread: Unarmed and called shots not until Elite Tier 1?

I have been fighting with other melees and marksmen lately. The single biggest difference in capability I've seen is called shots. Unarmed folks can't target a hit to body/legs/head until TKA level 1. Meaning over 100k combat xp, and a couple hundred thousand unarmed xp.


However, all marksmen can call their shots right away. And other melee (1h, 2h, polearm) can do the same early in the basic careers.


This makes a massive difference both solo and groups. Soloing is obvious - you can kill faster and live longer.


Groups is less obvious, but more serious. I group with a rifleman, and with 2 called headshots, he can kill most of the mobs we fight. Meaning he gets about 3/4 of the xp, and I get 1/4. This was a friend, so eventually he started using non-specials, or healing me, while I fought. But this is with me being Tier 3 unarmed, and him being tier 2 rifle. He had to stop attacking to let me get some xp.


This is crazy! I see we get stun instead. That's fine, stun is a fun attack to watch. But it's cinemtographics, it's not nearly as effective as a called shot.


Is there anything that can be done? This is extremely frustrating.

I have to agree that it would be nice to have a called shot earlier but hey ITs not there So i just beat them down tell there dead. I cant state strongly enought find a weaponsmith and buy Vibro knuckes they make the unarmed brawler a force to be recound with.

It's no easier to learn to aim with a weapon from 120 feet from a target to hit a specific body part than it is to learn to hit a specific body part in close combat. Indeed, it's probably a LOT easier to hit some guy in the face early on than it is to hit a target in the face 120 feet away.

I tell ya i am just plain angry about it anymore Unarmed are borked and they know it they just wont respond because they dont have a valid explanation.



Until they fix Unarmed fighters i am going to stay angry!

it's ok to be angry about it...and to tell them so but understand why they did the nerf...



they slapped a quick dmage reduction across the board saves them time while they focus on making the game better when they get some other stuff worked out they'll come back and deal with uswe've all been vocal about it they know we're screwed but patience...wait a bit

I actually like this better. It should take an unarmed comabtant longer to become more proficient. Anyone can pick up a gun and start shooting. The road to a TKA should be difficult.

Do you play unarmed?


This makes no sense at all. It takes longer to get the same skill? Why is this fun? Where's your logic? If you want it to be harder, put all your stats in mind and kneel down every other attack. But the point of MMORPGs is balance and diversity. Diversity doesn't mean making some classes harder than others overall. It means making some better at certain things and worse at others. But *all* other combat classes get a called shot early. All of them. The marksmen do more damage as well.

Seemsbalancedto me, unarmed fighters get it later, but get the ability to choose which of the three pools to damage - armed fighters get it earlier, but can only choose one of the three.

When you say later, this is an understatement, and the benefits of damaging one pool so early on in the career is huge. Elite combat professions require a crazy amount of xp (Days/weeks/months of playing) to go up in vs getting your first skill boxes in a couple hours? C'mon that's hardly balanced. Despite this fact, I would be okay with this if our specials were actually useful. Our blind/stun/intimidate/warcry could be seen as our "early on benefit" if they actually worked!

It's not the same skill, though. In fact, the TKA precision striking line is infinitely superior to any other profession's called shot. Why? Let me ask you this: what other profession can target any of the three HAM pools? Personally, I'd take that ability late than the ability to target one pool early.
