Well, I'm nearly to novice Swordsman and I have to say I'm amazed by the amount of armorI gothrough. Since I picked up Mabari (about 100k 2-handed XP ago) I've had to repair my chest armor 6 times! It has been destroyed while trying to repair twice, and I also lost a Mabari helm. I lost my Chitin Chest Plate about 15 minutes ago, and I decided it was worth checking to see if I was doing something wrong. I repair when my gear drops below about 2000 condition with a standard armor repair tool I bought off the bazaar. After my Mabari Vest was destroyed I have had a friend in my PA fixing things, since he has Engineering 4. I don't really think the repairer's Artisan skills make a difference, but it was worth a try. What I really want to know is, is there anything I'm missing? Do armorcrafters repair better? Is there a higher level repair tool that is less likely to break my gear? Do I need to buy factory built (non-prototype) armor so it doesn't break as quickly? Any advice is appreciated.

On a side note this leads nicely into another rant about the discrepancy between marksman and brawlers. It seems that brawlers end up spending much more on equipment, since we have to buy repair kits and replacements for armor which gets broken, where as this is almost never a problem for a marksman.

You probably want to get an Armorsmith to repair your armor, instead of doing it yourself. They'll get much better results.

Ive been repairing my gear for the last week, only lost 1 pair of chitin gloves so far though. Usually it just lowers the total condition of the piece.

It does seem we go through armor prety quick, all that down and dirty fighting takes its toll!
