Thread: Anyone else notice that Berserk and other specials actually CAUSE YOU DAMAGE???
Berserk causes me damage. Out of combat, if I go berserk I take roughly 100 damage. THIS IS WITHOUT ANYTHING HITTING ME.
UNARMEDHIT1 causes me damage. You cannot test this outside of combat, but I tested it on Kreetles. I usually kill kreetles in one hit. Every time I start combat with UNARMEDHIT1 I take damage. Every time I start with ATTACK and one hit them I do NOT take damage. Also, when I take the damage, there is NOT a message saying the kreetle hit me.
I have found that the secret is NOT to use the specials. HOW WRONG IS THIS?!?!?
It's not like the brawler is a powerhouse to begin with. Now we have to deal with our own special moves damaging us?!?
Of course they cause action+health damage.
I'm currently hitting for 500+ with unarmedhit2, Wouldn't that be a little too easy if they didnt cause damage? It costs me 100 health and action each to use it.
As for Berzerk... Vibro knucks tear it up. And the berzerk damage is well worth it.
"I'm currently hitting for 500+ with unarmedhit2, Wouldn't that be a little too easy if they didnt cause damage? It costs me 100 health and action each to use it."
Then what is the point? You take 100 health + 100 action (200 damage basically) to do more damage. Most creatures I solo (white cons) generally do not do this much damage to me. Using absolutely no special moves I can do up to 280 damage per swing. So with 2 swings I just equaled your 1 swing which cost you 200 health. Not only that, but you can miss with a special attack, which means you just took 200 damage for nothing and the npc may also hit you too. If I miss or hit with my 280 dmg, it doesn't hurt me at all.
Specials should be like they are in other games. If you want to balance them, remove or lower the HAM costs extremely, and put a re-use timer on them. Like a 5 second delay before you can unarmed hit 2 again. In Everquest (Yes I know this isn't Everquest) if my Rogue lands a Backstab, it hurts the npc, not me. That's the whole point, I am supposed to be rewarded for using my skills. That's why we're trying to fill up that next skill box - not to kill ourselves but the npc / player.
