If I get master pikeman and master doctor, master medic that leaves me 1 box for hunting1. Don't I need hunting to harvest animals? What template do you folks have that are both melee and doctor?

You can harvest with novice scout. Getting higher levels of hunting just increases the ammount of you can harvest. You don't need it to harvest you will just harvest less.

well with hunting1 you can see what hides and meat they have...

I have same template as you mentioned Jux, except sub in Fencer for Pikeman. Points investment wise its the same. Its a good combo to go with.

I'd recommend Novice Scout and Exploration I with your last 18 points after mastering Doctor and a Melee profession. The +20 Terrain Nego is great and you get to harvest.
