Thread: Best Onehanded
Vibroblade works for me. I have a 215 dmg one, sliced. HAM costs are super low so I can keep on going from kill to kill, with little or no downtime. Its light armor piercing is nice too.
Unlike the gaffi stick with its obscene HAM costs and no AP.
You use mind, but the HAM costs are still used in the other areas too. So 60/70 HAM cost in other area is still alot, considering how fast we alot, it adds up.I find with even 14/26/14 I can go through alot of my action and health after several kills.
Almost all theOne-handed weapons are useful at some stage of One-Handed Brawler/Fencer developement, but they may not remain the best weapons for the same reasons throughout your career. If you have the time to read, I will reveal the evolution you'll experience.
Starting off, having a Weaponsmith craft you a nice Dagger is the best you can get. Since they are so easy to make, and since you are a total noob (or at least appear to be), most crafters will end up either giving it to you, or charging you very little. Unless you have cash to throw away, I wouldn't even waste the credits, time, and effort getting it sliced. But if you do, get a speed slice.
From there, you can advance to a Sword,Curved Sword, or Gaderiffi Baton. These should not all be on the same level, since theSword cannot compete with the other two... but fornow they are. So grab a good Curved and/or a good Gaderiffi. You'll have this weapon long enough to invest in a slice. Again, get a speed slice at this time. You'll do more damage with a speed slice at this skill level than with a damage slice.
The Curved Sword dishes out decent damage, and has a nice speed. The HAM costs are about medium across the board... a bit high in the Mind costs, though. If you aren't a self-healer, you won't need the Mind for anything else and it saves a bit on the other HAM pools.
If you want to go the other direction wield a Gadderiffi Baton (aka: the crowbar). This is where it gets fun beinga One-handed Brawler. A well made Gaderiffi Baton has very high damage, with very little precious Mind costs. However, the Health and Action costs are a bit pricey. If you have Doctor buffs, are on spices, have a dedicated healer in group or can self-heal, then the Gaderiffi is, well... Gaderiffic!
Oh... and get it speed sliced, it's kinda slow.
Next you will be able to use a Vibroblade (aka: the butterknife). Right now the Advanced Cores aren't much better than the regular version, but that might change soon (crosses fingers). For now get it speed sliced... but soon your speed slicing days will come to an end. The Vibroblade does not have the big damage numbers you have gotten used to seeing, so it doesn't appear to be much. However, is has two things going for it. First, it is the only one-handed weapon (currently) that has any armor piercing... and that's a handy thing to have when you're opponent is armored. Second, the HAM costs are far lower across the board than any other one-handed weapon. This makes it a very efficient weapon when using your special attacks; especially when healing isn't available. By the time you can first use this weapon, it will be the best you have available.
Soon, you'll get to wield the beautiful Ryyk Blade. Here's a tip: If you simply must have one, borrow it. Fight a few fights... go "Ooo, aahhh," marvel at it's elegant curves... then go back to the more useful weapon you had been using. The Ryyk (at this time) simply gobbles up too much HAM, for two little damage. It is pretty though.
Finally, the glory of all One-handed Brawler glories, the Rantok is available. However, only as an item stolen during a Jabba Themepark quest. It does mediocre damage, at reasonable HAM costs... but nothing makes it stand out. It's really more of a Trophy than a weapon. Hang it on your mantle, not from your scabbard.
That's about it for your progress through One-handed Brawler. Once you get to Fencer, you gain a new weapon, the Stun Baton (aka: the nightstick). Like the Vibroblade, it doesn't look like much. It isn't for normal use. It's damage type is "stun", which allows it to ignore most types of armor. By the time you get this weapon, you'll want to get a damage slice. Your speed bonuses are about to go through the roof, and everything you touch will already be below the 1.0 speed cap, so a speed slice is wasted credits. In fact, once your current weapons wear out, get damage sliced versions of them, too.
From this point on you will find 3 weapons you want to keep on your person: The Nightstick, The Crowbar, and The Butterknife... all damage sliced. For opponents with no armor (AR0), a damage siced Gaderiffi Baton will simply chew them up and spit them out. For opponents with AR1,a damage slcied Vibroblade is your best bet. And finally, for opponents with AR2 or higher, or very high kinetic resists, nothing beats a good damage sliced Stun Baton for making it look like your opponent wore his birthday suit to the battlefield.
I hope this helps out some. ![]()
