Thread: Unarmed specials useless?
Soa lot of people have complained about the HAM costs and ineffectiveness of unarmed specials, and I'd just like to put in my own two cents in my own way.
**If I fight a creature using NO special moves, I always come out healthier compared to fighting the same creature using specials (with the possible exception of berzerk). Doesn't this make combat unecessarily *boring*?**
To be more specific, I am currently working on unarmed master, so the specials we're talking about are hit1, blind1, stun1, lunge1, warcry and intimidate. I have tried many different combinations of these, with armor and without, and the outcome is always the same.
**And VKsobviously make this problem worse.**
The specials look cool. They make fighting much more interesting and interactive. It is very sad and frustrating to me that I must sacrifice fighting efficiency in order to make it cool, interesting and interactive.
I know berzerk can be useful, and some people swear by it, but it doesn't do much to give fighting the afore mentioned qualities.
I realize that if I work my way up, I'll have a lot more specials to choose from, and that some people say lunge, knockdown and spin attacks have their uses. But from what I read on the TKA board, it doesn't look like I have that much to look forward to. And those future abilitiesstill don't help me with the 70000 XP (or whatever) I need to get to master.
Should I crank my primary pools way down in order to max out my secondaries? I realize this will make my specials more efficient, but won't I get my arse kicked with such low primary pools?
I realize that the Devs have much more pressing problems right now in terms of exploits and bugs. I just hope this boring fighting gets addressed someday. Too bad it will probably be after many of us have spent a zillion hours doing one-click fighting (or using specials and then sitting and healing, or using specials and then using up a bunch of stims).
