Thread: WOW melee system needs serious help

Hey man melee rocks. We might have probs against range people but its much more fun than just standing from 64 meters away.

Melee is fun I agree, but these little perks are really bugging the heck out of me.


We are useless in groups, while the ranged ppl get serious exp from afar, we get in close and aggro automatically, why didn't the ranged get aggroed ? I don't get it...Don't tell me it's because we hit super duper hard, ranged ppl can hit pretty hard too.

I can't believe after letting two full grown rancors beat down a mob to 25% health that melee takes over aggro in 2.3 seconds. This is ridiculous, how are we suppose to get good exp in groups if we end up having aggro ALL the time and most likely end up dying.


Does anyone here have some tips when grouping with others ? Ranged weapons seems to do just fine aggro wise, I mean they can start shooting and nobody will aggro them but us melee have a really hard time just beating the enemy down if they beat up us first.


I'm clueless as to what to do in groups really, after letting my CH pets friends take aggro for a long period of time, when I step in to get some exp, the mob automatically takes aggro on me, even after beating on his pets for a good 5 mins. What's the matter with the melee system ?

ok so I just saw a thread really similar to this one. But I still stand my ground, melee class is fun, but needs work.

The mob found a new, perhaps easier, perhaps harder target to attack. It decided to attack you. What's the problem?


Just because you couldn't take the beating that the rancors could is no cause for complaint. Did you want to be able to attack the mob without it attacking you once? Welcome to the world of melee where everything attacks you.

Here's a Tip, attack from your max range. 85% of the time you will avoid getting aggro. EX: You are fighting a Tusken Captain, if you are wielding a Sword, you can hit him from 5m away, if you are unarmed, you can hit him from 3m away.

This should be far enough for you not to grab aggro.

This does work alot of the time. Especially when your range of attack is longer than the enemy creature's range of attack. I can send my droid in to attack something, then stand behind my droid and pound away on the enemy. But if it is a large creature that I have to get really close to to be in range (like a Fambaa for instance...) then it will aggro me almost instantly! I am not against creatures attacking me... but why would they switch?? If you have been pounding on something for a while, and someone new enters the fight... do you switch to attack the new combatant and allow the first to run away or heal itself?? Most people, creatures would naturally not do this!

I can understand why creatures would not attack the ranged combatant... they are not very intelligent and would not comprehend that the pain is coming from over there... most creatures in real life when getting hit would either run, or attack the closest thing hitting them. At least I think they would....
