Thread: HELP WITH DAMAGE & WEAPON
Greetings,
I am a 2 hand swordsman and do about 800 damage a hit with a 2 hand axe. I am satisfied with that damage (usually enough to one-shot players) but have heard some people speak of their characters doing 3000 damage- how is that possible? Is it all based on what weapon you use?
Secondly, are the action costs on all 2 hand curved swords outrageously high? I bought one yesterday that had an action cost of 72 per special move! I really hope that's not the case with all katanas, because anyone who knows anything about real katanas knows how light and well balanced they are. For a katana to use more stamina than a huge 2 hand axe is absurd and completely unacceptable.
Thanks for your help,
Tobin of Daeran (Intrepid server)
I don't know about 2-handed weapons, but it doesn't surprise me that a higher level weapon would use more HAM. You just need to find someone who is really good at crafting weapons and I bet they can make one that's reasonable as far as HAM use goes. But that's why I rarely use special moves anymore. I'm a TKA Novice with knucklers and I rarely use specials due to the HAM use. It's a shame, too because those are the coolest looking moves.
Yes, its all about the weapon your foe is holding, and their stance (standing, kneeling, prone). You can do pretty huge hits against a target kneeling or prone with a rifle or heavy weapon. Well beyond enough to one shot kill them.
But, if they catch you at a distance and get a shot off...
It's all about tactics.

Coming from a fencer, I have personally done extremely high damages (1000-3000 range) when:
- your opponent is using a gun
- your opponent is prone on the floor (or unconscious)
- you use melee1hHit2 (cho sun) or betterunder the above conditions or
- you are beserked and above conditions
Marksmen freak out when you slam 1500+ damage on them. The most I have done is around 2700 damage in one swing under the above condition.
