Thread: Am I wasting my time blinding

Seems like I still get hit twice for every once I hit back when they're blinded (AND stunned for that matter).

Anyone know exactly what's going on here?

(I've been playing for awhile but just recently headed up the unarmed tree).

Yes, it's a waste of time. This whole game is a waste of time, for that matter. None of the abilities work, and rather than fix those they just make the ones that do work (knockdown, posture change) completely useless too. Posture change has basically no effect on mobs (they kneel for half a second) and the same is true about knockdown: it doesn't even last 5 seconds. Basically the game is just a PoS and melee is completely a waste.

Intimidate, cuts enemy damage in half, then bezerk, then equip knucklers. Don't leave home without it..... And get yourself a 2.1 or less speed set of vibroknucklers and forget all other special moves for now. I am at unarmed 4 and doing Zucca Boar lairs and should make it to TKA novicethis weekend.

blind is VERY deadly...it seems to halve (or give a large decrease) to the to hit value on a mob. Now, the problem is you have to have a perty dang high melee defense for this to matter or the creature your fighting has to have a low to hit bonus. against say a lvl40+ mob a 101 melee defense doesnt seem to affect it... but you add blind... and suddenly you are missed 50% or more of the time. on lower lvl mobs it cuts their chances to an insanely low baseline that i think is capped arouns 20%. but if you have say 20 melee defense take a tera kazi master as your example target: 160 (to hit) - 80 (blind) - 20 (melee defense) STILL leaves him at +60 to hit and thus you WILL NOT see any real effect... same with any high mob.

Brings me to my regular pitch, melee defense is useless in the end game unless you stack SPECIFICLY to get it. It doesnt do a straight percentage chance to miss but instead modifies a premade number attributed to each mob. so a guy who stays below 40 melee defense might as well have 0 for all the good it will do him once he starts fighting things on the advanced planets...

I don't use blind or intimidate or anything other then berserk because of mind costs...

Testing on other players, blind works pretty well in having the damage(but how many long term melee PvP encounters do you really have?). Against mobs... as was mentioned earlier, you see little effect against white cons and above.

Intimidate will halve the damage you recieve, combined with stun you can see a 75% reduction. With no VKs on the HAM cost is minimal and anything I can solo I can also take the time to land these specials. Anything I don't have the time to land these specials isn't a mob that Berserk is likely to make a difference alone on.

I found blind essential if I fight with my friend. Shes doing polearm with a long vibro axe. (-50 hit modifier)

but we make a quite good team. i blind enemys and they get easier to hit. she finishes them with the insane vibro axe damage.
