Thread: Brawler problems
I've went through unarmed 1-4. The main issues I have had while going through this tree had to do with the severe lack of modifiers. I've always viewed the brawler class as more of a tanking class. But in order to function as a tank then you must be able to reduce the damage you take and/or increase the damage you deal both against melee and ranged weapon users. Intimidate, berzerk, warcry, and lunges should be much more effective or resist much less frequently. Attack bonuses for melee should be MUCH higher for melee at close range...especially since melee range is very small. At unarmed 4 my attack bonus against a target is generally -5, as pistol 4 its generally about +30 standing....something seriously wrong there.
Melee users should get a smaller penalty to attack against fleeing targets, a smaller penalty to attack targets while you are moving, more speed modifiers, more damage modifiers, and a lot more defenses. Since melee range is so small should melee users ever have a negative attack modifier against a ranged component in melee range?
One solution that I think would help is to give each brawler skill tree more +melee defense and +ranged defense modifiers. One of the biggest drawbacks of the brawler profession is the complete lack of a combat xp skill tree...or a skill tree to put in defenses for all of the brawler types to use.The brawler profession as a whole needs to have more +intimidate and+berzerk modifiers as well as more toughness. Hmm what if all of the toughness modifiers in the brawler profession were general melee toughness which would later stack with the specific weapon toughness you would get later in the specialized melee professions? I think that would give most melee professions a good reasonto go master brawler. I seriously think that melee toughness would be a good way for brawlers to be better at "tanking".
State defenses should be looked at and most likely fixed. State effects should be made more effective IMHO as well. Especially since the only state effect that I've actually noticed the effect is dizzy.
