I am looking for some advice as to where I can get the max exp for my lvl. I currently have the following:

Pistol 4

Rifle 3

Carbine 2

.. and am using a rifle with 26-53 damage, 4.3 attack speed. I'm looking to up my rifle exp at the moment. I can always fall back on pistol with my scout blaster of 51-102, attack speed 2.3.

Best i can tell you is to get better weapons, and pick on everything you see. Currently i am 20000 carbine points from Master marksmen. I use a 50-122 1.3 Pistol, a 11-355 5.3 Rifle and a 18-209 Carbine (i think its 5.5) And i level up quiet well by taking missions and just killing everything i see and bleeding nests (shoot once, peace it, wait for it to spawn)

Secondly, I see in some of the write-ups people talking about use of different unarmed attacks. However, I am currently at UA3, and have recieved no special attacks, the only attacks I have are Melee Strike, Lunge, and Melee Attack. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a different way to learn these other skills?

hunting groups work well..you hit the creature and get max xp, usually around 5-6k xp per kill

You are doing nothing wrong. Many skills have been revoked as a result of the CU. Also many abilities have been doubled up in standard profession trees supposedly to give all Elite profs shared abilites from their root beginner professions. Currently unique skills that make professions more diverse from one another only start at the fourth tier of beginner combat professions.

If you are alone, your best bet may be to beat up on level 4's around starter cities. (Theed usually spawns a regular lair of 4's) This may be slow going, but the level 8's could give you problems without medic skills as the instant stims do not heal fast enough. If you are in a group, you just hit once what ever they are attacking. You'll get max XP for your level (+/- any modifiers for buff/group/+or- level/DB capeable/Agro).

This is not correct for a level 8 character. There is an XP cap per level and it is much lower than 5-6k per kill. The 5-6k per kill is at level 77-80. However som lairs give good XP as well.
