Thread: Mounted Combat
We know that when the devs try to balance something, they do it across the board with no regard for the difference between ranged and melee fighting styles (see 30 KD timer).
Accuracy penalties for mounted combat wouldn't do jack for us, we will still be kited and if we do magically get a chance to hit, then our accuracy for that one chance to hit will be lowered.
They said that we won't be able to use special moves on mounts...well, that doesn't do anything at all about being kited, and special moves are the only way a brawler can possibly defeat a kiter.
Maybe it's too early to make a judgment on mounted combat, but I'm not optimistic. This game is, and will continue to be balanced around marksmen and CH. Mounted combat should be a place for melee to shine in the game, but there's no indication that this will be the case.
Your thoughts?
I firmly believe the ONLY reason melee in this game is screwed up so badly is because of the inclusion of the CH class. Now don't get me wrong, it was a nice idea, and I like most of the CHs I know, but being able to lug around those huge pets that do a so much better job than any melee could ever hope to do even in their dreams, just makes it pointless for us to be there at all.
I agree with the mounts only making it worse, it's bad enough we can't attack when we are moving because of some visual mechanics where we think we are closer than we really are, but now they will be moving away even faster and still shooting us. So basically anyone without a mount is now about to become 100% useless. <sigh> I guess I'm gonna go pick up pistol like I did on my second server, since melee is obviously the redheaded stepchild in this family.
how to beat a mounted kiter:
1. get the fastest mount
2. get in really close if hes a rifleman or carbiner hes screwd
3. the pets will probably have an attack or two kinda like charge for a mounted guy or trample for a walking guy if they do use them wisely
4. if all else fails cry nerf ( i was kidding plz dont)
Mounted combat in SWG on the other hand is not.
