Thread: Center of Being broken?

Last week I was able to defeat creatures my level or lower using two-handed combat. Center of Being was an important part of my being able to accomplish this. This week however I can't even defeat creatures two levels lower than me. Center of Being seems to be giving much less defense. Does anyone know if this has changed?

The devs changed the damage ranges of the creatures in the game.

So its now possible to get hit for more damage by the same creatures, but you can also get hit for less in other instances.Theoretically it averages out to the same damage taken (but its just theory ).

Did some testing, CoB is working as it is supposed to.

Ever since 17 COB seems to do nothing for me. I can't out if something is bugged or if there is a intended reason why it doesn't work. I'm not using a ranged weapon, and as far as I know thats the only reason why it shouldn't work. Does anyone else have any ideas.

Oh, and I'm on the Bria server if thats relevent.

I am lvl 29 swordsman and COB has not been working since the latest release. It does not provide any discernible defensive effects. Furthermore, I have also noticed that the sword flurry move doesn't reduce damage taken either.

This is not a matter of the creatures doing a range of damage, as a creature my level would previously do btwn 50-80 dmg to me with COB on before the patch and now they are doing btwn 150- 250+ with COB on. Even low level creatures are doing about 150 damage to my guy with COB on.

In short, I can't tank at all anymore andfall down after about 8 or 9 hits. Serano2 is right, COB is broken.

Can you copy the combat spam, fighting the same thing, with and without CoB. I have been testing this out on Bria, and I have not noticed any difference.

One other thing that may hinder your ability to use CoB is if you are moving while trying to apply it. I find that I need to be completely still for it to work.

If a move has a warmup, it will cancel on movement. CoB sometimes fails to initialize, but not as often as it is successful

I was the original poster and thought I'd add a couple of comments.

If it matters, I'm also on the Bria server as an earlier posted mentioned.

I know CoB is cancelled by movement. I see the icon under my health bars, so I know it's started. I do see a reduction in the damage done to me -- a hit that is 132 without CoB is 105 now (those numbers might be slightly off). I think the problem is CoB used to reduce damage much more than it does now.

I just know that I used to be able to kill creatures my level or lower (and with a bit more effort, I could manage my level +1 creatures), but now I'm having trouble killing creatures even 2 levels lower. The main problem with this is it means I get less XP but it has also meant many more trips to the friendly neighborhood cloning facility.

Maybe its theserver? My only brawler is on Bria. And I am doing Jabbas Themepark with a CL 16 guy. When I fight CL 14-15 mobs..i get owned even with CoB on if there is even only 2 guys shooting at me, unless I draw them out 1 guy at a time and go 1 on 1. Something is definately up with CoB. I used it ALL the time because it was the only way to reduce damage enough to take on a mob. Now...forget it.

Well after playing around with it, I think I found it. It does not happen all the time. But when you reapply CoB before the timer is actually up, it seems to re-roll the damage from the attack. Sometimes you win this roll, sometimes you lose it. I am on Bria as well, but had no problems taking out stuff above my level. I have Doc/Pike and I can tell you that the buff to attack speed comes in very handy. You may wanna see if you can get a doc to tag along and heal and give you the buff. It only lasts 15 minutes at MDoc.
