Thread: NEED HELP WITH THE NEW COMBAT SYSTEM!!

I've been away from SWG for a few months and when I returned the whole concept of combat has changed. I was used to getting buffed and heading to Dantooine able to easily kill waves of Reds (mainly Huurtons) even though I'm only at the lower end of Novice Pikeman.
Now with the new system I had to flee two Level 21 Bantha's (I'm Level 23) without having much impact on them.
I also had to change my Ubese armour into Padded which seems to be the best I can wear (though not sure if its any good). And my very effective Long Axe that I had I can no longer use. The best I can use at the moment (which I have) is a Reinfored Combat Staff which seems to mainly tickle creatures!
So, can anyone give me some pointers as to how to get through these changes. Are Buffs still useful? What armour and weapon should I get?

Hi and welcome back!
First off, you need a better weapon. As a Pikeman at level 23, pick yourself up a regular lance. At level 30 try and get yourself a Nightsister Lance or a Cryo Lance. At level 40 you can use your LVA again. Then at 54 get a Vibro Lance until you can get something else.

Armor, there is no "Best" like there used to be. Either get some Bone or use your Padded set. These are both "Battle Armor" and are what you can use.
The best buff at your level was the Advanced Adrenal Boost given by Doctors. It will increase your attack speed by 40 for 15 minutes. However, your best bet maybe would be to either pick up doctor or have one tag along if you can find one.
