...that's gonna make using CoB really annoying

You think there's any chance we could get the devs to make the CoB ability to loop itself? (i.e. you start it and it keeps going until you turn it off)

(see In Development forum for more info)

If they dont here is how to work around it:

/CoB (or whatever the text code is)
/pause X (where X is the time CoB lasts)
/CoB
/pause X
/CoB
/pause X
/CoB
/pause X

etc. until you run out of macro room.

Whilst I only really ever use macros whilst fighting Axkva/Acklay/Elders and the big bad Krayt baddies, I still like the idea that I can think about healing myself while I fight without having to worry whether my COB has finished. This is one of my main problems with this idea, however the AFK people in Theed and Coronet really do my head in.

What is really wrong with afk people? They added your precious "afk ignore" and if they didnt put themselves on afk you can still manually type it for goodness sakes! So what if someone wants to spend THEIR $15 a month afk? Don't like afkers, DONT PATRON!!!! It is that simple. And now, thanks to the endless line of whinners, I will now have to go find someone to buff me and I might even have to talk to them to be polite. Maybe I dont want to talk to people which is why I choose to go to the afkers. There will be evils to this you havent even had the forethought to think of!! Give it two weeks and all you people moaning will be moaning again for it to be fixed because it has now messed you up in some other way.

Which is also a very good point, sometimes I do choose to just go to an AFK macroer to heal my BF cos I have had a toss day at work and I really don't want to talk to someone, and on the odd occassion I get a great vender location from listening in Theed. Its only when the macro is every 10 seconds and I can't hear what my friends are saying in guild chat that I find intrusive.

There are definatly two sides to this arguement.

I totally agree. If you don't like the afk dancers, leave go somewhere else. there are so many cantina's and dancer's in star wars. If you pay to play. then you should be able to do as you wish. I pay good hard earned money to play this game, and I should be able to do what I want, how I want. The problem here is there is too many kids playing this game who gripe and complain about everything. it's the whole band wagon high school effect.

Lostboy (shadowfire server) here he come's to save the day!!!!!

It's discussions like this that remind me of the saying "your rights end where the next person's rights begin". The argument that since a person pays $15 a month to play a game means that they should be able to do whatever they wish in that game is probably one of the more self-centered and immature statements I hear. For those of us who are using computers on the lower end of the hardware requirements, all of those people in the cantinas that aren't even playing their character bog down gameplay to the point that it is unbearable to play. Not to mention that it is using server resources and bandwidth. The argument that if someone doesn't like it they should go to another place goes against your excuse that you should do whatever you want because you pay your $15 because those people also pay their $15, and they don't want to go somewhere else.

This change can easily be worked around if you are actually at your keyboard.

What is the point of playing a game that you aren't even there playing? If you want to be instantly leveled, get a Playstation.

suggest this in the Dev thread you posted about.

That's the kind of info they're requesting when they ask "How will this affect your profession?"

Umm - then why are you playing a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game? If you don't want to interact with anyone, this is hardly the game to play.

I will now have to go find someone to buff me and I might even have to talk to them to be polite.

What, you mean like 95% of the other professions in this game? Why are Entertainers your personal slaves in your mind? Unfortunate way to think of other players in this game. You should reconsider why you play this game at all.

There really won't be that big of a change with this, really just a slight inconvenience.

The problem here is people playing an MMORPG that don't want to interact with other players. That's the whole point of playing an MMORPG. You're playing the wrong game, my friend.

Are you really that desperate to talk to EVERY single person you happen to come across in this game? The way you describe it, it sounds like all MMORPGs are just graphical chats and that's not what they are. You're playing the wrong game, the game you described is called The Sims Online. Plenty of times I'm ATK and I don't talk to anyone outside of my group unless I know them. I don't have to talk to you or anyone else in the game if I don't choose to, I don't log on to chat with random people about random things. There's nothing wrong with chatting, but it hardly makes up an entire game.

Yet when you need to get some armor, or weapons, or spice, or foods/drinks, or an image design/stat migration, or a new pet, or a new droid, you seek out new people if they're not in your group. Their services are valuable. Why aren't Entertainers? Chatting (and getting service from other players) is what this whole game is based off of!

I don't talk to EVERY single person I happen to come across in the game, of course. But, I very happily and politely interact with those whose services I need. I don't understand the disdain for entertainers or having to visit *gasp* a live one.

Why is it you are YELLING about your macros getting nerfed, what's wrong? Your skills won't be as effective asthey used to be? The game will be more complicated?

Try having your entire profession marginalized by the game mechanics, and everyone and their brother starts doing it. This is the current plight of the Entertainer with buffbots. You don't want your Center of Being macro to go away? It'll make the game harder? You don't know hard until you try to be an Entertainer and make a living, when you need money for house maintenance or a harvestor, but the AFK robot entertainer next to you gets all the business and gives it away free. Now THAT negatively impacts gameplay. ONE of your skills might be a little harder to deal with. Try having your ENTIRE REASON FOR PLAYING being obsolete.

For the record, entertainers did NOT, I repeat, did NOT ask for this change! In fact, thehundreds (easily)of ideas entertainers came up with didn't even IMPACT other professions. Did the Devs use these positive suggestions to improve the entertainers' games? Noooooooooo......when have the Devs ever listened to Entertainers?

Just an example, one idea by a friend of mine was to give bonuses to At the Keyboard players. Like, you visit a live Entertainer and they can give you a 25% better buff (stronger or longer) if the entertainer types /enhancemind and enters a random 8-digit code to provide the bonus. Did that get implemented or considered? Nooooooo.....the Devs do as they please and yet again IGNORE entertainers. They instead decide to go nutballs on the entire community and say they're going to remove repeating macros entirely - and entertainers take the heat because *gasp* they're excited thatmaybe THEIR $15/month would mean something again if the buffbots dwindled! What a joke.

(OW, yellow text hurts like hell, thanks.)

For the record my main isa Dancer/IDer, so stop assuming that only non-entertainers disagree with this change. For the record entertainers on these forums did ask for this change in many forms. For the record this change won't stop buffbots AT ALL because they can still write macros that will last for hours. What a joke.

If you want to talk to entertainers in the cantina then start typing because plenty of times we're in there, if no one is talking to you then that's because no one who is ATK wants to talk to you. I have yet to walk into any cantina in a busy city on any server with only afk entertainers. Surprise, not everyone wants to carry on a conversation with random strangers. I've personally ignored 5 people within the last hour when they asked for buffs and I wasn't in the mood. I didn't tell them that I didn't feel like it, I just didn't respond...Does that make me a bot? No. So stop assuming that everyone who doesn't talk to you is afk and botting.

Buffbots won't be taken care of until the auto-afk feature is forced to stay on, since we have the option to turn it off we're not booted for being afk, that's the only way to stop bots period, so you're cheering for the wrong thing. Take your head out of the sand.
