TKA has meditate which makes it unique. Fencer has lots of defense, fast attacks but not as powerful as the slower, but devastating swordsman. I was never a pikeman, but Id imagine its slower, but more powerful. Master Brawler with any though is quite useful. I am a TKM/Master Fencer/Master Brawler. It is whatever you prefer, may it be speed, power, fun. It comes to your personal choice in the end. My personal choice was TKA and fencer.

As you get farther in the profession, you will swing at less than 6.1 speed. TK is good, because of a good mix of offense and defense. They have meditation which is also helpful. Fencer has the best defenses, but worst damage. Swordsman hasa greatdamage output (plus 2 damage types) and kinda bad defenses, and pikeman can do real well if you get the right equipment (they have the most DoT loot, and 2 damage types at least).

IMHO: TKA

Reasons
1) Has to be good, everyone and their mother is a TKA it seems.
2) Meditate: no need for doctors except for buffs. No need for entertainers except for BF and buffs.
3) Can target all three of the HAM bars.
4) Extremely quick
5) Looks cool

The only big negative is that you have only one damage type: kinetic.

TKA :

Pros:

- meditate (heal disease, poison, bleed and wounds)

- powerboost ( only profession that has a self boosting ham special)

- most accurate brawler profession ( you will NEVER miss)

- speed cap ( at master power techniques you will have mastered your speed cap with a vibro knuckler so you attack very fast)

- unarmedKnockdown2 (only profession that has a dizzy and knockdown in one special, can be very useful)

- state attacks (only profession that has state attacks for every kind of state. (i.e. stun, blind, dizzy))

-combat equilibrium( teras kasi has the highest combat equilibrium.. meaning if you fall over you have the best chance of getting up right away)

Cons:

-low state defenses ( you will not have a high defense vs states. (i.e. someone will be able to dizzy and knockdown you easy)

- limited to one type of damage ( as teras kasi we are limited to kinetic damage only which is a set back when fighting PvE )

- vk is light ap so you will have a tough time with any high level mobs by yourself

Overall :

- good self sustaining profession, works well in duels and you do not need to rely on a weapon ( can fight with vibro knuckler or nothing)

- not the best profession to use in PvE as we only have one type of damage and only have light armor piercing.

Fencer :

Pros :

- high state defenses ( you will not get many states on you (i.e. dizzy, blind)

- high posture change defenses ( you will not get knocked down or lower posture change)

- stun damage weapon ( fencers have stun baton and this cuts right through composite armor unless you have special stun resist composite)

- laying states ( fencer can lay dizzy and blind but for them it is an area dizzy and blind, more effective in fighting lots of NPCs or players )

- also has some combat equilibrium like TKA but not as high.

Cons :

- only light armor peircing weapons like tka so you won't do as much damage against a high level mob.

- ham costs seem to be higher especially if you are not buffed.

Overall :

- another useful PvP profession as you can get some strong gaffi and stun batons made with acklay bones.

- like teras kasi this profession is not best if you are seeking PvE

Swordsmen :

Pros:

- Has medium armor piercing weapons.. (i.e. power hammer and scythe )

- powerhammer deals blast damage and there are lots of things not as resistant to it (i.e. nightsister elders, anything in the geonosian caves)

- deal out massive damage ( strongest PvE profession arguably. blast damage power hammers with a maxdamage of 1000)

- headhit3 ( whether PvP or PvE it proves useful, players cannot heal mind so using headhit3 to target it is a good way to win a fight. headhit3 is also just a powerful attack and works well in PvE vs high end mobs.)

Cons:

- cannot deal state damage ( swordsmen have a chance to do state attacks but no specials for them besides an area posture change)

- limited to blast and kinetic damage although this does seem to be enough for most jobs.

- slower attack, to use effectively you will need the Melee speed from FS profession or 2h speed attachments

Overall:

- best profession for fighting high level mobs or creatures

- decent in PvP with headhit3 as your ally

Pikeman:

Pros:

- only profession that has an area knockdown / dizzy effect

- has most different types of attack (i.e. electricity, kinetic, energy)

- people seem to find more Damage Over Time (DoTs) weapons from pikes. (i.e. Mind fire )

- like swordsmen it has medium armor piercing weapons for better use against high end mobs

Cons:

- alot of the pikeman attachments seem to be broken (i.e. polearm damage) **Correct me if i am wrong please!**

- low defenses both melee and ranged defense along with state defenses.

- like swordsmen you are not speed capped at master so you would need to get yourself some attachments

Overall:

- another decent PvE profession with medium armor piercing weapons

- decent in PvP with DoTs however I will point out that ANY PROFESSION can find a DoT weapon for there type, polarms just seem to be more common DoT weapons.

Basic run down of all the profession! hope that helps in your decision.

Pikeman can really shine if you loot a high damage LVA. Standard LVA's are subpar at least on my server compared to Powerhammers (can do blast too, helpful against some NS). Pikeman are good at the corvette and DWB. You can be successful in pvp in any of them, it is just a matter of preference. The animations are cool and pikeman is alot of fun. To give you a example I had a LVA that did 1200 damage with a powerup that was looted. Swordman can get acklay bones to enhane their weapons as well.

# 1 is a bad reason, and #2 is false. You can't heal disease and Dots in battle, only after.

I don't think that one profession shines over the others. It is all a matter of personal preference. If u like speed and healing go with TKA. If u like defensive bonuses up the wazoo go with Fencer. If u like damage go with Swordsman. And I don't honestly have enough experiance with Pikeman to say what the advantage is for sure. Instead of going for master in one profession u might look into mixing the professions in order to get the most out of your toon.

Short version?

Sword - Damage
Fencer - Defence
TKA - Self Reliance/Defence (Toughness)
Pike - AoE and Damage (with looted pikes)

Grammar
Ratification

Got Coherence?

k opion's dif on Brawler. I may still be a noob, but fencer is great if u geat a high damage stun baton, and great def. Sword is great damge, ok def and u get good mind attacks. Tk is the poop i dont know why but it's good, def is lacking though, and if u are master, make sure u get a high damage VK, and not speed. Pole has just as good def as pike, but the speed is lacking, and also u have many choices for awesome pike dot's, which rule the game. This is just my two cents as a two month force sensitve noob.....PEACE
