Thread: Master Brawler = Waste
Ok. I am getting very agitated here. LokSG makes the best skills template i've seen ontheBrawler, and now there is a possibility that brawler will be defense capped???? What the heckis the deal? Why are they making it so flamin hard to be a brawler!??! Now look, I like a challenge as much as the next guy, but this is downright ridiculous! How can I enjoy the game when my favorite profession is being made into an absolute.......wimp?!?!
Anyone can use a gun, or grenade, or bazooka, but it takes a rare breed to stand toe-to-toe with a Rancor, and live to talk about it, and that's what I like about brawler, it's a much more personal combat style, I meanI have to look you in your eyes when i death blow you, not shoot you from 300yrds away. These constant kills to the brawler statsare taking away the attitude of being that rare breed, and quite frankly i'm nearing my limit. If the brawler fades into the dark my account will as well, because i have no interest in just running around shooting things, i can do that on XBOX.
The Brawler has it hard enough without having all of their stats nerfed. It just makes us cannon fodder, and what is a soldier who has lost his gun, ABrawler, and they way these downgrades are going, a dead one.
well after haveing master brawler for a couple of days i would definetly not say its a waste but i dont think is something thats needed in the end game template of your character. as odd as itseem the more i use intimidate2 and warcry2 the less i seem to miss with them and they are very valuable skills. all in all they make it worth haveing, at least untill i need the skill points for doctor.

I started my character exactly one week ago, and am a Master Brawler now, as well as Teras Kasi Novice and Novice Swordsman.
I plan on a similar build however, with the addition of ranged support.
Also, I'm a trandoshan, with the +10 Melee Defense bonus.
My only question.. are those truely percents? Then I could easily get over +100 Melee Defense.
Here's my template that I'm creating:
HOWEVER, I am undecided on if I want to continue with Teras Kasi to Master or go with Swordsmanship.. I'm considering Master Swordsman.
But, the one I'm using currently is thus:

Defense vs Stun should be +65 and Defense vs Blind should be +60.

No, not including racial bonuses. An additional +10 melee defense and other stuff.
Also, it comes out to exactly 250, check your math.

32 skill pointsfor Expert Balance and Master Precision
20 skill points for master polearm defense
63 for master fencer
63 for master swordsman
and 77 for master brawler
255 total.

For some reason I was thinking Master Brawler cost 1 pt instead of 6. Bah.

For those basing their character on getting huge melee/range defense, I have a word of caution. There is an old thread in the Fencer forum indicating that melee defense has a soft cap of 50. Anyways, melee defense seems almost broken anyways, since you will almost never be missed by mobs.
Just a perspective from one person who had thought the same thing when the game started....
