Brawler Archive
Thread: In your opinion, what brawler skill tree is the best?
I have made two brawler characters and the first was unarmed and the second was a polearm. By far i like the polearm better because for some reason its just more fun. Plus most people that are brawlers and unarmed and its not exactly fun to be something that everyone is. So I'd say take a chance and go polearm. And if u end up not liking it, you can always sell your staff on the bazaar.
I'm working up the Polearm ladder, but I'm a little disappointed at the choice of weapons. Having so few, at least. They have a nice list of all kinds of stuff at SWGCenter.com, and it's easy to see whats available. I also am confused with this whole lance thing. Everytime I think 'lance', I see a Knight on horseback jousting. What about: Bardiche, Voulge, Scythe, Poleaxe, or Halberd? All these weapons are unique looking and can be used for different combat. Add a Star Wars flavor and set range and special effects based on the type of weapon and it's use, and you get a nice subset of weapons that we could use.
This page has some interetsing polearm heads: http://www.deepeeka.com/swords/spears/polearms.htm
However, if that fencer was surrounded by 2 or more opponents he would surely lose. But, if a Swordsman is surrounded by multiple opponents, he can easily take them all out in 1 or 2 swings due to the AoE attacks available to the class.
Brawler/TKA:
- These guys tend to be the quicker hitters but for less damage. At lower level Brawler, the lack of certs allows you to use good Vibro Knucklers. However, you never get to look forward to anything better. It's like getting your best weapon ever at level 1.
- TKA gets some pretty good hits and they can be fast. There is losts of raoming Monk RP potential and some of their skill tree's are nice.
1Hand/Fencer:
- It's hard to get a good weapon to start with, however, once you do, and you move up the tree, you get some nice moves/pool hits. You are not as fast as a Brawler, but you do more damage hits.
- Fencers are pretty balanced. A good weapon makes the difference. You continue to get some good pool hits and their damage scales nicely.
2Hand/Swordsman:
- Good weapons are the hardest to find. You'll always be paying a premium for them. You do hit pretty slow, but for some mean damage. There are nice moves open to you, and a good 2Hand weapon looks really really cool.
- Swordsman, though hard to advance in, is very rewarding. Weapons will be your hardest thing to keep up with, but your attack and defence are pretty balanced. I'd say that Swordsman are the most balanced melee profession.
Pole/Pikeman:
- Early on your going to get beat up a lot. Your weapons are very slow and not that available. If you get frustrated easy, this is not the profession for you.
- Pikeman, well they are just friggin mean. I've seem Pikeman kill 5 whites with a sweep attack and a good weapon. No melee class is harder to advance then a Pikeman, but none open up a bigger can of whoop arse either. Good rewards are there for people who can stick this out.
Marshall Pat'richia
I dabble in polearms right now. Not sure if I like it enough to advance through pikeman, but the CH nerf is getting out of hand and I may have some skill points freed up very very soon.
Let me just say that the jump from combat staff to lance is amazing. In my first ever duel (indoors) I took out a rifleman in two hits with just PolearmHit1. If we were outside I guess it would have been different, but MAN!
Then again they are incredibly slow from what I have seen. The best seem to be in the low 4s in speed.
what species are all of u brawlers ! ! ! ! and tips for a startng brawler
thx
yeah thats about right Spaz. I think 2hand is the best just becuase you get the mind attacks..Eventually people will wise up tho. I havent found problems getting a good 2hander tho...I think the other classes are harder to pick up weapons for on bria (with vibro knucklers excluded). If you going brawler i think wookiee and trandoshan are the best...kinda depends what you doin tho.
