I agree that something must be done, and these are good ideas.

Not including the damage reduction for PVP, better armors and the like will solve that.

I fear this game system is uttrely useless in PVP becuase everything will have to be nerfed on order for this to work. If rifleman gets nefred, they complain about melee hitting for two much becuase basically we'll kill them in a few hits. Then they nerf us, and the story repeats itself all over again... kinda hard decision to make here...

I doubt they will ever read this anyways. Just like DAoC man, these boards are just here to absorb some of the complaints so people dont call in everyday and complain. People think they can come here relieve pressure and everything will be heard....WRONG AGAIN...

goodluck getting a reply from a DEv on this board.

biwan: Well for one I am not trying to get the attention of the developers myself; I've played enough MMORPG's to know that I'm trying to get the attention of the respective representatives in each of the boards so that they can in their weekly/monthly report present the issue of ranged/melee balancing. Thanks for the well wishing though.

For PvP, melee users with 95% chance to incapacitate (Novice pikeman using polearm hit 2 and a vibro weapon) while the opponent is holding a weapon will have a better time over all. If you fit this category try to stay covert if the battle allows for it. Get your TEF by being in a group or healing, and walk up to someone firing a rifle, then hit them, move on to the next, and hit them.

This will allow you to incap quite a few of them before they catch on. Only thing you'd have to "worry" about is someone stealing your DB's.

Thats my solution for the scenario in which absolutely nothing like this is changed.

The attic was less to us from the cellar the bones like the attic let them have it let them stay in the attic. When they sometimes come down the stairs at night and stand perplexed behind the door and headboard of the bed brushing that chalky skull with chalky fingers with sounds like the dry rattling of a shutter. Thats what I sit up in the dark to say.

How about the fact that i have seen npc's with rifles shoot thourgh rocks walls and ground i mean in this game u should be abble to dodge moves just by moving it will make everything easier cause what i see is that the laser from the bullets is just an animation not the real shot cause if dodging (not the mod)in this game were possible u won't need to change the game just learn how to dodge well. Also this will make this mor realistic also maybe add a skill where melees can roll to the side to dodge it might make the game better.

What I think:

You guys are also forgetting that SOE has said time and again that the rangedprofessions will win most battles with themelee proffesions. In my belief it is that they didn't want to make the game "fair" for all, and make it more relistic. Also, I belive this is in place because it is basically only the Jedi that use a melee weapon, so it is trying to sway more people into the proffesion. Keeping in mind that this is based on the movie, not the other way around...

What I will tell SOE:

The PvP combat involving Ranged and Melee Proffesions need to be balanced.... etc.

I went to Anchorage as a Covert imperial on the idea to get some fighting experience. I ran right into the caveren (sp? the medical center/catina there) then went down the two flights of stairs and waited for rebels to search me out in a small room.

I had great success. I killed two rebels, and two dueled two people down there. I won them all and only died when I came outdoors.

It was good fun, you guys should try it, assuming you can make it into the cavern before a rebel hunts you down.

Look dumbass's if a melee guy gets in combat with a ranged guy and he does not get the jump. Guess what he loose's that is how it should because face if you became a melee and said to yourself wow that guy with a gun over there i can beat him because i have a really big stick. Guess what chances arey you are stupid melee looses versus range period.

Chances are they're tired of getting Out of Range when standing over a knocked down player in PvP when their ping is under 50.

Yeah, I got the jump on him, but from the moment he started moving, even though the "To-Hit" numbers appeared over his head the entire time, even though he was motionless and on the ground, I got Out of Range. Letting ranged take precedence over melee is understandable and I think it's great. I want to have some skill involved in what I do. I don't wanteveryone to have my profession. However, I don't want that skill to be solely rooted in how effectively I can combat the bugs thrown at me instead of the players.

I would be happy to be able to attack while running. Hate having to stop to get a hit in...
