Thread: A constructive argument concerning ranged/melee balance (with solutions).
I agree that something must be done, and these are good ideas.
Not including the damage reduction for PVP, better armors and the like will solve that.
I doubt they will ever read this anyways. Just like DAoC man, these boards are just here to absorb some of the complaints so people dont call in everyday and complain. People think they can come here relieve pressure and everything will be heard....WRONG AGAIN...
goodluck getting a reply from a DEv on this board.
Vantro
For PvP, melee users with 95% chance to incapacitate (Novice pikeman using polearm hit 2 and a vibro weapon) while the opponent is holding a weapon will have a better time over all. If you fit this category try to stay covert if the battle allows for it. Get your TEF by being in a group or healing, and walk up to someone firing a rifle, then hit them, move on to the next, and hit them.
This will allow you to incap quite a few of them before they catch on. Only thing you'd have to "worry" about is someone stealing your DB's. ![]()
Thats my solution for the scenario in which absolutely nothing like this is changed.
my solution
more large terrain in game to hide from kiters and make them come to u
What I think:
You guys are also forgetting that SOE has said time and again that the rangedprofessions will win most battles with themelee proffesions. In my belief it is that they didn't want to make the game "fair" for all, and make it more relistic. Also, I belive this is in place because it is basically only the Jedi that use a melee weapon, so it is trying to sway more people into the proffesion. Keeping in mind that this is based on the movie, not the other way around...
What I will tell SOE:
The PvP combat involving Ranged and Melee Proffesions need to be balanced.... etc.
Khrim...
I went to Anchorage as a Covert imperial on the idea to get some fighting experience. I ran right into the caveren (sp? the medical center/catina there) then went down the two flights of stairs and waited for rebels to search me out in a small room.
I had great success. I killed two rebels, and two dueled two people down there. I won them all and only died when I came outdoors.
It was good fun, you guys should try it, assuming you can make it into the cavern before a rebel hunts you down.
Chances are they're tired of getting Out of Range when standing over a knocked down player in PvP when their ping is under 50.
Yeah, I got the jump on him, but from the moment he started moving, even though the "To-Hit" numbers appeared over his head the entire time, even though he was motionless and on the ground, I got Out of Range. Letting ranged take precedence over melee is understandable and I think it's great. I want to have some skill involved in what I do. I don't wanteveryone to have my profession. However, I don't want that skill to be solely rooted in how effectively I can combat the bugs thrown at me instead of the players.
