Thread: Brawler Player Correspondent?
Do I 100% agree with that? No, not really, I was a bit miffed at the time. But with the exceptions of communication skills and experience with the profession, there's no objective way to be more qualified than anyone else for a correspondent position.
As a community member, I would not want a Commando requesting changes to the Brawler tree that profoundly impacted every aspect of my character. If the correspondent were a Swordsman with only Two-Hand IV, I might appreciate it...but Pikemen may not.
I've dedicated my whole character to brawling. If it were feasible to drop my Scout and Medic skills, I would. A change to any of the 18 boxes in Brawler changes my character, and any other character who has mastered the profession. Master Brawler really is a "must have" box for a dedicated melee character, along with the Scout and Medic skills.
As for perspectives on other classes...first I wanted to be a Commando, then a Swordsman, then a Squad Leader, then to go the whole way with Master Brawler and TKA skills. I've had every box under Scout and Marksman, I've done the unarmed grind twice, and I have a lot of sympathy for Squad Leaders. I know what it's like to be on the other end of the kite string, and to perform in a group with other professions. I kill and get killed in PvP and know what the "pecking order" between professions is, but when I die I don't take it personally.
I think my communication skills are just fine for a correspondent position, but maybe that's something only the red names can judge.
So...if we're handling applications within the thread, I guess that's my application. But hey, maybe they use the signature criteria all along. That would explain the SL correspondent's sig...
As powerfull as the TKA profession is. Whice is what a lot of brawlers do for. And me being a BH, I am really losing it TH, You are losingt an awfull lot of people here, I see BH quitting everyday,
Whear as a TKA master I have seen take on 5 creatures at once. Each one 7k PLus ham. And win. I know of no other class that can do this with out having pets. And they are getting improvements. Man whear is your priority list coming from????
Well, at least some groups are informed when there's an opening . . . *target TH and /grumble*

Hello ThunderHeart,
Ithought for my request to fill the position I would draw up a list of issues that brawler (master brawler, as well as mastering it) has, here's what I have :
Levelling :
- In my opinion the incrediments of the skills are way off balance, the first 3/3/3/3 levels like a dream (too easily, IMO) and then you get slapped with the 70,000 XP, I believe it should incrediment with a little more transition, add a bit more xp to each box so it doesn't feel like such a grind when you hit your third box.
Useful-ness :
- The strong points of this class are Warcry 1 and Warcry 2 (10, and 20 second delay which can be augmented by the BE tissues, to allow for a very nice tanking move) along with Intimidate 1 and 2 are the bread and butter of this class, the lunges do help a bit in PvP vs Ranged users, they also help out in PvE (allowing us to be more sufficient 'tanks' as it were.
Useless-ness :
- The weak links of this, lack of rewards, currently the Warcry2 and Intimidate2 are the only reason to get it (except for UnarmedLunge2 which benefits fencer and swordsman (though mostly swordsman), Berserk2 used to be a great reward, a long lasting double damage that could help you out, currently Berserk2 is a vice, which is not worth the 77 skill points, I believe the adjustment that was made should be only applicable to Berserk1 (+75 damage, okay that is good for novice brawlers but I think it should be spiced up for masters) I proposed a while back reverting to the double damage for Berserk 2, as well as the increased the time so it is a rewarding skill. Otherwise I believe most of the skills in between work well for the class, though i've been told many times the unarmed grind is very hard compared to even the pikeman grind, maybe if I am hired I can look into this by getting opinions on how to modify the current 'grind' that are those two trees. I also think that HAM costs should be adjusted according to the fact that marksmen do an equal damage output as brawler but have much less HAM costs.
Ideas I would like to see implemented :
- I've collected these throughout my long time spent posting and reading the forums, and I happen to see these said the most about brawler, more bleeds added (as the other 3 classes focus on it later on, I think brawler should be preparing the class for how it is meant to be played), I would like to see more of a use put into the 'Taunt' ability, I can't seem to figure out what it does (other than puts an enemy into fighting stance, not very useful if that is as intended), as well as more certs for weaponry put into master brawler so that it is a rewarding thing to get (more swords, knucklers, and pikes). As well as some +damage incrediments for all four classes, considering unarmed is the only class that gets alot of +damage bonuses in their tree (I actually think it is the ONLY one). And lastly, I was hoping for at least one elite class to come along for brawler, considering Marksmen has two, some people consider Teras Kasi as that since it is 'superior' to the other classes ( I dont believe this but im stating general opinion, as should be done when presenting a whole communities opinion ). I also have a lot of other ideas that i've seen posted or have thought of myself but I am probably going on too long as it is, so i'll close it up.
I haven't applied for any correspondant positions until now because i'm reaching my end character (which happens to be full on brawler, with a little bit of medic) and I believe I have the knowledge to address this class properly (I decided the generic 'brawler' vs an elite class would be better as it benefits ALL the elite classes), anyways; I genuinely care about seeing this class progress and I will do my best to relay information between the brawlers and the combat designers and vice versa, I would like to thank you for reading my request to fill the position.

I disagree that the amount of EXP is a problem. The base-mastery and elite-novice skillboxes should be the harder ones to acquire. This is not any different than the ranged combat classes.
The problem here is that a brawler's strength at the "expert" / tier 3 level should be comperable with any ranged classes at that level.
For TKA this is an issue because their damage output at that level is still very low. THey have no weapon certs until they reach their elite class. Either VK cert should be moved down to 3rd tier or there should be a lower powered knuckle weapon with a 2nd or 3rd tier cert. I can see that for 2h sword and pikemen there might be a balance issue at tiers 3 and 4 (pikeman has no cert a 4).
Ganerally for earning tier 4 and novice melee professions should be able to play comfortably with other non-elite ranged weapon users. I don't think that is the case now. Melee professions have to grind up to slightly past Novice elite before they become effective in PvE (if at all).
The weak links of this, lack of rewards, currently the Warcry2 and Intimidate2 are the only reason to get it
I agree that there are too few incentives to master brawler. For rifleman the +5 speed is extreme (since that's a total 95% speed reduction). However the speed (for non-tka) and damage improvement is slight. At master level (after next patch) TKA would go from 3.5x dmg to 3.55x dmg, going to master brawler before novice TKA it goes from 1.3x to 1.35x, and given novice it goes up from 1.7x to 1.75x.
I'm also of the opinion that all melee classes should get damage bonuses for the poor stats of their weapons.
more bleeds added
Agreed. Ranged occupations get to stack 2 bleeds on a target. As a rifleman I can eliminate strong mobs before they close and I switch to my TKA weapon (avoiding the melee vs rifle dmg penalty). With the two combined I can tank against the bleed and solo single yellow and red con mobs.
I would like to see more of a use put into the 'Taunt' ability
I think that taunt could be put to great use as an ability that can force a mob to walk towards you away from their social assist. Ranged profesions can initiate combat far away from enemies and have less risk of getting multiple mobs aggroing them. Certain NPC's with a millitary hierarchy should however always react as a group (rebel or imperial troopers defending their base).
For balance I think the next patch is a great step towards fairly balancing the brawler elites.
While I am more active on the individual elite profession boards, I am an avid fan of master brawler and I would enjoy taking up a position as spokesman for the profession. Some may recognize me as having provided commentary on each of the elite brawler profession forums about the coming changes to melee professions at large.
Anyhow, I'll leave the rest to TH and my message therein. But whichever way it goes, I thought I'd say hi. I play a master weaponsmith/swordsman and a master brawler/tka/fencer on Test Center. If you're ever there and need a melee weapon or just want to chat about the incoming changes, send Gaffyn or Flynn a tell.

May the best man (or woman) win, from what i've seen here the lot of us will do this class great justice, and i'll be happy either way ![]()
