After 2 days at brawler I've reached 2hand 3 and am heading straight for swordman. The question I have is whether or no to use armor. I've heard from some people in game that you don't really want to use armor as a swordsman. Is this true? If it's not .. what do you suggest ? Light armor? I don't even know how armor effects your stats or what ppl mean by encumberance .. I'm 2 days old remember

Any help would be appreciated!

As you go up the melee skill tree your going to earn Toughness in regards to that class. Swordsman I beleave get 2 hand toughness, this is semi like wearing armor without armor. However if you want to take on mobs far above your lvl then your going to want armor, id recomend Mabari (for cost) or if you can or if its cheap where your at Ubese, what your goin to want is high Kinetic Resist.

Encumberance is how much the armor is goin to effect your stats, say a helm has a encumberance of 41 health 32 action and 81 mind that means its going to lower those stats by that much with it on. You have to watch it b/c wearing armor will give you the benefit of taking more damage but will also lower regen on ur stats.

well, i'm a master armorsmith and a novice swordsman (0-1-0-1), and let me tell you to WEAR ARMOR!

and that's coming from the swordsman, not the armorer.
Without armor i find myself drop fast even by desert demons.

With armor on, (GET A SUIT OF high kinetic UBESE!) i can last a long long time no problem.

With armor i slaughter herds of ronto's for XP, and without it the first bull ronto would probably be quite a fight, if i win i'd have to take a breather.

i also use the bugged PSGs, but i can milk'm to work at least to help out a bit.

but really, get a suit of high kinetic (50% or more) ubese armor,
it'll help you out A LOT! if you're on shadowfire, i'll even give you a suit FOR FREE, i have an extra one pre-patch, so no sockets, so i can spare it.

Let me know if you're interested,

If you've got the money a set of GOOD composite is worth it's weight in gold. There is comp with 80% special on Kinetic out there.

Just take it off when not fighting and you'll regen just fine.

NO, do NOT buy composite for your goals.

It is way too heavy for anything but PvP.

If you're fighting creatures or others, stick to ubese, you can find ubese with KINETIC just as strong as composite, for half the cost and half the HAM penalties.

Composite is only good if you'll be fighting commandos, bounty hunters, etc.

Stick to ubese with high kinetic, trust me! it's the best way to go.

I'm currently working towards a TKA/Pistoleer combo, with some basic Scout/Medic skills thrown in. Is wearing armor a good idea even for someone focusing on unarmed combat, now that they've been 'tweaking' the HAM-costs for specials?

If you are stilling offering the armor, Ill take you up on that. I am at unarmed 3 now and not looking forward to trying for unarmed 4. I bet some armor will help a bunch.

I'd pay the extra for Composite just because Ubese is so damned ugly. I mean look at the arm bracer. It looks like a friggin cast. Makes your enemies want to give you sympathy.

It really depends on how you color the armor. I had mine custom made in dark blue and it looks awesome.

I use ubese. I think it is one of the best looking armors. The only coloration I do is that I like to have the jacket in green.

Actually I don't find that composite is that much worse than ubese for encumbrance. Sure, it is bad, but once you've bitten the bullet for ubese, a little more for composite isn't too bad.

To alleviate a lot of your problems with armor encumbrance get buffed by a doctor, dancer, or musician and use chef foods.

On Test we only have Tattooine Sunburns available. I buy those by the crate and swear by them. On live I hear that a common combination is Veghash and Breath of Heaven. You can alleviate most of your encumbrance issues simply through using chef food.

I tried Ubese and could not equip it all because of health. I was going to let my stats migrate, but I found I was getting hit more often than I was with my old armor - so I sold it.
