Thread: Master Brawler = Waste
Master Brawler Once the idea of a combined melee fighter now, worthless and pointless. right now the skill bonuses are the only reason to master brawler....
Warcry 2 is a nice move. Has one problem will miss often and for me will work like this -
- miss
- take ham
- Hit or Miss
- take ham
Intemidate 2 is more ineffective then any other move we get. It has very little effect on the target
Lunge2 - was a very nice move. everyone likes a ranged KD. Sence the KD nerf lunge 2 is worth nothing. When you use it it may or may not hit and it if does it does 4 dmg AND may or may not KD while still taking60 -110 mind. that is really messed up when you look at something like pistol whip that works every other try and does dmg reguardless. lunge2 usually goes like this
- Miss - 60 mind
- Hit- 60 mind no KD
- Hit- 60 mind no KD
- Miss - 60 mind
- Hit- 60 mind KD ... finally
Now you look at that and you have a serious problem. if you only lose 60 when you do the move then you lose 300 mind. 300 mind to do one KD.... sadly some of you are think "well that must be the higher lv creatures" heh its not i have tested this agianst friends of mine that are pistoleers noviceand TKA masters. works almost the same agianst a pc as it does an npc or a mob. The to top all of that off if you are chasing someone , lunge2 will not work will say out of range even if you are 5m away.
Berserk2 Its kinda funny when you look at this one. its the same as Zerk 1 but last 3 times as long. now with the zerk berf coming the question is will it effect zerk2? If it does then this skill will be pointless.

The first Intimidate halves or more the target's damage against you. How can the second Intimidate be ineffective? Is it bugged, otherwise it makes no sense?
I agree. Intimidate 1 ROCKS (when it works of course). I am also wondering how Intimidate 2 sucks... If it makes the target's damage 1/4 andlasts 2 or3 times longer, I'd be plenty happy.
Well, I made Master Brawler last night to supplement my 4 boxes so far of Tera Kasi, and Intimidate2 seems more in line with the intimidate the creatures hit you with - you know, the one with the very long duration. Takes a few tries usually to stick but if I am fighting one mob, it *really* helps. It seems to stick a lot better/longer than intimidate1.
Berserk2 seemed to do same damage as Berserk1, but lasted way too long. I got to foam at the mouth long enough to kill 4 humbabas (stimmign myself silly), and still have to wait for it to wear off. Good or bad, you decide. I think it has it's place, but not being able to style for that long is pretty nasty.
Haven't tried warcry2 yet, I'll give that a go today.
Generally speaking, I am thinking it might not be worth the 48 skillpoints and all the timeI sunk into mastering 1h, 2h and pole.
Seeing as I am still experimenting, just what is it you folks love so much about Master Brawler? I guess I am not using my abilities to their full extent yet. Any tips are greatly appreciated =) I don't want to give it up before giving it a thorough try, but I need to free up points to advance Tera Kasi and medic a bit more, and the points have to come from somewhere.
The way I see it, 48 points for Master Brawler would get me through Master Medic and into Doctor as well. I still can't decide which would be more effective.
Oh, unarmed lunge2 is hilarious though,I tried a few duels last night and yes, I knocked folks on their ass from obscene ranges, must have been 15 m or more lol. I would really miss losing that. I could see it being extremely fun to abuse in pvp. Only does 4 damage or so, but god, the look on their faces. Priceless.
Too bad the 2h swordsman I tried it on hit me on the head for 900 damage first though, that sort of ended that duel quickly =).
Well, Tera Kasi get a knockdown attack, so unarmed lunge2 is okay for me, but it only does 4 damage andhas a range of 15 meters. My Tera Kasi 1st knockdown does around 300 damage at the same time it knocks them on their ass, so unless the mob is running away from or towards me, unarmed knockdown is a better move.
I am really enjoying intimidate2 as I wrote, played around with it more tonight. It does seem to still cut the damage in half, just like intim1, but lasts for god knows how long. Nothing I have intimidated has lived long enough to stop being intimidated - and with the 4000 humbabasI was dropping tonight, that takes awhile (I am currently doing around 230-250 a swing with VKs). With a set of chitin on, and intimidated, the humbabs were doing 40-50 damage per blwo to me. It is great. Can't tell if it sticks any better than intimidate1,I am still testing. Both seem to fail quite a bit, draining my mind pool which is heavily needed for popping stimpaks in bad fights.
Berserk2 is silly, I hit it by accident during a fight on a swooper, and spent the next 3-4 minutes standing around until I could sit down and regain some mental health. I'd rather it had a shorter duration and bigger damage, personally. It lasts way longer than any fight I can imagine. Nice not to have to keep reapplying if you're facing multiple mobs, but hitting berserk with multiple mobs pounding on you doesn't usually work out too well.
I also played with warcry2 tonight due to recommendation in this thread. Interesting when it lands, but **edit**, it missed a lot, sucking my ham down frighteningly each attempt.
People are only saying it might be a waste when compared to other things you can do with those 48 skillpoints. Since it only takes 63 skillpoints to master an advanced profession, and 77 points to master any novice profession, 48 skillpoints can go a long way.
For fencer and 2h, I think master brawler is probably more useful, as neither of those profession gets a knockdown, unless you count dizzy/1hand lunge1 hehe. I can see how much you'd love your particular lunge if it has a knockdown effect like unarmed lunge2 does.
Am keeping it for now, intimidate2 has really grown on me (when it sticks). Unarmed lunge2 will be great fun for duelling (reach out and touch someone) and if I ever decide to pvp (as melee that's not bloody likely atm).
Master Brawler - Pimp or Gimp - you decide! Jury is still out for me! Seeing as I can get Master Tera Kasi/Master Doctor OR Master Tera Kasi/Master Brawler/Master Medic - I still have to decide if Master Brawler > Master Doctor. That's really what this boils down to in my case.
I think I can honestly answer this question now as I've recently gotten master brawler.
Putting aside the new skills (Berserk 2, etc), I've found that I'm actually a better brawler now as I climb the TK tree. Example - with master brawler, I get some really nice bonuses. I can't remember the number currently as I am at work, but my Unarmed Accuracy has a +85 to it. To any of you who are not master bralwers and climbing the TK tree, what are yours at? Believe me, this makes a huge difference. I miss much much less. I hit harder, and I hit faster. Because of master brawler, I can solo reds with no other aid (and provided I am at full heath, and no wounds).
Even with the nerf of berserk, berserk 2 is very nice because it actually lasts the length of combat. I scored 600 FP points alone just combating Imperials! I still can't take a stormtrooper (Lousy kiting, working on a stratagy that won't kill me in HAM costs), but hey, someone's gotta have a goal, right?
For me, Master Brawler was worth it. The skills may not show it, but the end scores will. In a world full of ranged, we need every advantage. MB is it, IMO.
Intimidate in my opinion is what really makes it worth while to get MB. Even though I am not a big fan of berserk2 It does have its uses as well. If you are grouped with another master brawler or any with a knockdown (Or a smuggler with panic shot) it makes more since for 1 to use berserk. This does equivalent damage (at least right now) without costing you near as much ham usage. If you have a smuggler with panic shot this is wonderful. Panic shot basically does the same as warcry2 except it also does damage and costs the smuggler 1/4 the ham usage warcry does.
What I usually do for intimidate is to knock the enemy down first or start with it. If its a mob that aggros right away lead with lunge2 or whatever your knockdown is. Then spam intimidate until it sticks.
