Thread: The Secret To Unarmed XP: Vibroknucklers
Everyone has had trouble getting unarmed experience, and one of the main reasons is we haven't had anything equipped while we tried to get experience. We're supposed to equip weapons just like everyone else, but weapons specifically for unarmed.
People are starting to be able to make the first unarmed weapons now, they're called Vibroknucklers.
I got some and now I'm doing, on regular hits with no combat styles or whatever they're called, from 60-190 damage. On berserk hits I do as much as 400. I have expert unarmed, going for specialization and eventually TKA.
The styles take a whole lot from your pool when you're wielding them, but all you need is regular hits and berserk. I'm getting xp about 5x as fast as I was before.
So get yourself some vibroknucklers. Not using them is like an expert pistol user with the original CDEF pistols that you get when you first create your character.
I've been lookin for some since release but there are no melee smiths on Radiant!!! ARRRRGHGHGHG

anyway. I think I'll be master TK before someone starts making vibroknuckles.
There is another thing i worry about with Vibroknuckles, notice he said some of the FIRST melee weapons. I got news for ya Vibroknuckles are the ONLY Unarmed weapons. I worry that some smiths are gonna price gouge the crap out of us because its the ONLY weapon we can use. If its the ONLY weapon we can use they can charge outrageous prices.
SanTsu said in another post that you wont find Vibroknuckles on the bazaar because of the 3k cap on items there just proves my point. Why should i have to spend so much money to have Viability when all other classes could even be viable with CDEF weapons that have minor upgrades to them. Frankly IMO that just sucks.

I just bought some Vibroknucklers from Caella on Bloodfin but I havent been able to try them out yet. The damage numbers are similar to the scout blaster I am using so Im hopeful that my damage will increase substantially. I got up to master unarmed in beta and the difference between then and now is amazing, the damage across the board is much much lower now. I think it is good that we have a way to help our damage output but the fact that the vibroknucklers are so hard to get ahold of and quite expensive doesnt help the newer brawlers out there.

Yeah, I just got vibroknucks, and went from 'meat shield' to 'death machine'. My group stared slackjawed after I solo killed an imperial officer while they were all trying to pick off the imp medic.
I was just as amazed- 986 xp! Earned by me and only me taking on the imp.

I agree - Vibroknucks are a great help to unarmed brawlers.
If they are going to require us to have a weapon to do good damage (not necessarily a bad thing), then there needs to be more than 1 type or level of weapon. There should be basic versions that the crafters can make early on and any brawler can use. There should also be more advanced ones that can only be made by advanced weaponsmiths and used by high level unarmed specialists. We could have something like:
CDEF Knuclker (4-20 Damage, Intermediate Unarmed to Certify)
Spiked Knuckler(6-40 Damage,Exepert Unarmed to Certify)
Bladed Knuckler (8-60 Damage,Master Brawler or Novice TK to Certify)
Vibro Knuckler (10-80 Damage, Advanced TK Precision Strikingto Certify)
Force Knuckler* (12-100 Damage,Master TK Precision Strkiking to Certify)
* 'Force' as in 'Force Pike' not as in 'Use the Force'.
Well, thats my idea anyway.

PS - PVP against marksmen & ranged mobs is STILL way out of balance.
