Did Luke or Anakin ever have formal training in those skills before being trained as a Jedi?

Being trained to effectively wield a Lightsaber is part of the Jedi training process.

A lightsaber wields COMPLETELY differently than a sword of any type. Have you ever swung a sword? if not, take a broomstick, go outside (that place with the sun, I know it's scary, moreso than my grammar).. swing said stick around for a bit.. Now, take a flashlight. Swing it around a bit. Tell me that they wield the same and I'll ask for you to pass your crack pipe. So comeon, don't start crying nerf now 'cause jedi can do things you can't. From what I've seen from the few jedi that have posted, they've mastered at least 8 professions to get there, have put in their time doing it, so just suck it up, and get off your butt and master everything out there, or just shush already.

ASwords are heavy. Lightsabers are friggin' light. I mean, did you see that screenshot of the 'saber schematics? It requires like only 5 metal.

yes the weapons have differences, but the wielding of the weapon has the same principles such as parrying. thrusting, and etc.

a move you can pull with a gaffi stick, you can pull with a lightsaber right?

well this most likely happen, but it WOULD be funny to see all the jedi forced to grind 1h swords xp

I think it's just differentenough to be placed in it's own proffesion. The Jedi proffesion to be exact.

Luke was a moisture farmer and anakin a pod racing slave! enough said. As a mater of fact luke had a sniper rifle and used blasters way before a lightsaber.

A lightsaber blade weighs absolutely nothing...it is pure energy and the only weight is in the handle...muchg different than swinging a sword...plus use of the lightsaber involves using the force in conjunction with the lightsaber...totally different style of training altogether...oh yeah...

All the wieght in a sword is in theblade so it can cut through stuff, no the other hand the little wieght a saber got is in the handle. A person who was trained in sword would probaly cut himself in half using one
