Thread: Intimidate?
Has anyone found this as useful as i have? I know sometimes it can fail several times in a row, but this seems to be random. For me atleast. I land it on average my 3rd try. And it is a godsend when trying to take down a tough mob. It cuts there damage down anywhere from 30%-50%. And it is also a quick skill meaning it only takes1 second to use then your swinging again.Although not lasting very long(maybe 10-15 secs), in that time they can hit me a 1/2 dozen times. This literally saves me 100's of points of damage. But i'm a novice heavy swordsman, so it might just be because i'm using it on things around difficulty 20 or so. I am also a wookie, so i have Wookie Roar as a backup. I just think they should reduce the cost of Intimidate to about 50-60. Everytime i use it it takes around 93 from me.
I use this in every fight on anything difficulty 15 or above. It works wonders for me. Does anyone else find this skill as useful?
I even took down a mountain squill solo today
Although i was almost dead from healing myself so much, that was a fun fight.
I'm sure the speed decrease on the target is nice, but you said it yourself, it can fail several times in a row. Heck, you may not even be capable of landing it, effectively draining yourself of 100 or so health and action every try. So you trade damage to your pools from the target forsomedamage toyour poolsfrom tryingto intimidate the target. Seems to break even in my book, and isn't really worth it.
I use it as much as I feel like when I'm hunting with my doctor friend (with his buffs I can style non-stop and not lose any health or action, just mind), but otherwise, i'd rather just concentrate on using my own HAM bars for doing moves that will actually land.
The stink bomb scout trap helps with this, but not significantly enough that you will consistently land intimidate.
My fellow brehtren..
use this inti both in PvE and PvP!!
VERY USEFUL,, i mean intimidate2 not the 1st one!
the inti2 stay long as the battle will end.!
it cost 60 H and 46 A --- at least with my stat..
and it half the damage taken to us!
don't bring so much attention to intimidate II ![]()
Move along folks, nothing else to see here ![]()
in the distance a dog barks ... "nerffff"
I used to think Intimidate 1 was useful, but then I got Intimidate 2 and I realized Intimidate 1 sucked. I gave up Master Brawler and couldn't believe just how gimped I became.
Against harder monsters I don't think Intimidate 1 is worth it, it wears off practically as soon as you get it to stick. Intimidate 2 on the other hand rocks.
I've figured out for myself that intimidation is really good, but I was wondering...
I'm somewhere around master doctor... I can either do master 2H sword, or some of 2H sword(like, maybe the headHit line) and master brawler... do you guys think that intimidation 2(and the +20 skill mod) is useful enough, in PvE and PvP, to give up so much 2H sword skills?
Intimidate 1 seems to last something like 30 seconds (if that...against high level stuff it seems to wear off sooner?). Intimidate 2 lasts like 2 minutes. You'll RARELY be involved in a fight in which Intimidate 2 wears off and you'll have to reapply it. Meanwhile against high level mobs by the time you get Int1 to stick, it wears off and you have to do it all over again.
To answer the second question: Intimidate is not useful in PvP, but it is AWESOME in PvE. That said, I could not live without Lunge2 to knock people down. In fact I'd consider myself all but useless in PvP. Now that I've experienced both, Iwould take Master Brawler over Master Swordsman any day. It simply has too many useful perks to pass up. In fact, originally I gave up MB and then realized I couldn't handle it.
Losing Master Swordsman just means a little less damage (Two Hand Hit 3 does only 0.5 more damage than Mind Hit 3 and it's slower plus it targets a random pool) and a few less bonuses (that are partially made up for by MB). Meanwhile Master Brawler gives you Intimidate 2 and a 15m knockdown, both of which bring so much to PvE and PvP respectively (even after the knockdown nerf) that there is no passing them up.
My recommendation is to get the Tech line in sword and the Finesse Line, then get Master Brawler. If you have extra points then go with the Defense line. I wouldn't waste them on the Offense line because the AAs are no longer all that great, plus you already have an area spin and an area sweep from the defense line. But, the kicker is the defense line gives you better bonuses.
