I have anew character in CU...More often than not, this ability doesn't apply the defense boost, making itclose toimpossiblefor me to level up withoutgrouping. Am I doing something wrong?

Without Center of Being, I'm dead. Against the creatures I've been fighting at CL13, I get hit for 124 when I don't have Center of Being up. When it is up, I get hit for 48. My attacks do 127 damage (Melee Strike), and most of the creatures I'm fighting have around 2000 health.

Every creature I've fought attacks me twice for every action I can take. One of my actions is CoB every 30 seconds or so (not sure on the exact timing). And usually I get hit twice for full damage by the time it's active again, sometimes my action cycles come up lucky and I only get hit once before CoB is up again. I also have to heal myself once I reach around half my health.

Right now, the way combat works, I don't even watch my character fighting. I can't afford to. I have to watch the timers on my actions, and make sure I hit a new action as soon as I'm able. I have to watch CoB like a hawk, because as soon as it goes down, I'm getting battered three times as bad. If I hit it too early, it doesn't overwrite what's there already and I've lost a cycle until it's back and ready for me to use again. If I jump the gun, usually I get very few attacks in for that cycle because I'm too busy using BactaShot to get back all the health I'm losing without CoB.

I don't know how ranged combat works now, and I don't have much interest in it. I can handle beating something up for two and a half minutes before it dies. My suspension of disbelief can't handle standing there shooting at something for two and a half minutes.

Right now, melee combat feels like Tetris.

There are no fun animations, and even if there were I wouldn't be able to watch them because I'm too busy watching timers and Center of Being. I set my auto-attack for Melee Hit, mixing in Melee Strike when I can. Most of the creatures I'm fighting get right back up if I use Lunge. Armor Break doesn't appear to be much use against creatures. And, then it's just watch my hotbar, my health, and my target's health. I imagine it will be even more bar watching once my specials start draining action.

Without Center of Being, I'm dead. With it, I can fight a long time, but I just have to watch my hotbars to keep fighting.

Set up a simple macro for cob and it will take some of the problems out, I use:

/centerOfBeing;

/pause 25;

/tell <insert your name> COB IS RUNNING OUT SOON;

/pause 7;

/macro cob

The name of the macro is cob, hence the last line. This will start your cob and warn you about 5 seconds before it wears off, allowing you to kd your target and hopefully miss taking dammage during the time the macro recycles.

No, your not doing anything wrong. It just has a bad habit of breaking. Something to do with healing yourself in battle seems to cause it not to work. So, the fun factor is dead without the command. That is totally wrong.

What i hate about the command is that you have to use it all the time when soloing. I shouldn't have to always use it just to win. But i sure can't heal fast enough to compensate without it.

My biggest problem with this skill is that you need a melee weapon for it.Imagine if you will a new player,decides to go up brawler unarmed to be a smuggler or tka.He goes out kills some things and ding yahoo my first skill box! Goes to trainer throws down his cash and excitedly looks to see what skill he unlocks. He reads hmm have to have melee weapon...but then i won't get unarmed exp will I...there fore first skill useless to me? Also I may not be a martial arts or fighting expert but have a friend who is and there are several unarmed martial stlye that are particular for avoiding getting hit and injured. Seems to me this could be an unarmed skill?

Sure it works, don't you count Fists of Steel as melee weapons?

I tried it out earlier both witha VK and without and it went great, could even solo up to two white cons and survive.

You get a CoB at Unarmed 1 so you have to do the first box without it, but I think in one handed you get it in the second box so it is not so bad. The text DOES say that you must have a melee weapon equiped BUT the skill works just fine unarmed.

It works fine with unarmed.

The problem is, it breaks when it feels like it.

Make sure to look up and see if the icon is under your ham bar.

Sometimes, I have to click it 3 times to get it to work.

Thank you for the macro. I'm goning to try that when I grind tonight. I'm currently 0/1/0/1 in Fencer with Master Brawler and I can say I was doing missions with levels equal to my combat level and I *could* solo mobs without center of being I would just take a decent ammount of dammage and have alot of downtime between fights.

You all may want to consider leveling artisan or finding a master artisan to make food for you. I noticed a big difference last night when I was eating Crispic (acceary increase) and Bofa treats (health regen) and they seemed to help a decent amount.

The abilitywasn't working at alla moment ago. First time this has happened.

Red thunk..

Red thunk..

Red thunk..

Then I went into combat, thinking maybe it'll activate then,and was just slain because it wouldn't. I wasn't moving around.I wasn't healing myself or anything. This is clearly a bug.
