Thread: Riposte worth MAster Brawler? You decide

Did a bit of testing of Riposte.

Riposte only gives 15 point damage each time. No more no less. It works when you are hit while Riposte is active. It is only active for 5 secs.

It works almost everytime. I'd say between 95% - 99% success rate.

And it will only work the one time during that 5 secs it is active. So if your hit twice, say from a TK, within that 5 secs, you only riposte 15 damage.

It's a nice idea and suits my actual fighting style (from martial arts) - but it's pretty useless. They sort of missed the "parry" part, I think.

i tested this myself,

I was hoping it would boost my defense - it doesn't seem to. i take the exact same amount of dmg whether i'm parry'ing or just standing there. i don't seem to get missed any more often either, kinda lame.

I use it to buy time if I need to heal myself and get the med exp. I guess you could use it to get hit less often and let the other people in the group you are 'tanking" for get their hits in.

I am a TKM/MBrawer working on Pikeman with med\and scout to boost my healing of self since I still get hit even if it is for only a few points.

It may be useless now but im sure it will be fixed....eventually. Though it barely takes any action points, Parry Riposete doesnt counter much damage, but i use everything at my disposal to fight the enemy. One smart thing i came up with was a macro, this is how you can set one up.

Macro Name-Parry Riposete

/parry; /pause 5; /macro Parry Riposete

That is a simple macro, but if you fuse it with other auto attack macros it makes it easier than mashing the button again and again every 5 seconds. Mine is fused with other attacks to keep fighting and Parry up at the same time. To me i think in total estimate of damage to parry hangs around 150+ depending how long you fight.

I tried this macro last night, and all it did was empty my action pool entirely too quickly. It also interfered with my setting of CoB as my default attack, which has worked just fine for keeping it up and running when i'm fighting.

Parry Riposte Stance needs to last longer than 5 seconds to be truely useful. I can handle it not reflecting much damagewise, but when you consider that swordsman gives you flurry attack which lasts 10 seconds, has the same defensive boost as PR Stance, and does its damage upfront in the form of an attack, it far exceeds the limited benefit that PR stance gives.

As a Master lvl skill (even though is not elite) it should be better than it is now.

As it stands we have to mash too many buttons already. We have to deal with CoB and deal with KD and the various states. Having to click on this skill (that doesnt really do anything) is absurd.

Make the skill somewhat useful. Make it last longer than it does and/or reflect more damage or anything.

it needs to reflect a certain % back at the enemy....

would be nice to reflect 10% of those enclave sentinels damage back at them

CoB as my default attack

CoB as default attack??? Do you do much damage when not using specials? Maybe I am missing something, but why you'd have it as default attack and not a macro is equating.

I really don't think the devs expect people to use this skill. They put it in more as a placeholder so they could tweek the stats later and make it useful. I just wish they would tell people the skill isn't ready yet and save you all the trouble of testing it.

Because it works, and i don't want a macro to keep giving me the kthunk sound every time i try to activate CoB and am not in combat. also, the macro timer would constantly be off for me if i happen to be movign when it tries to activate CoB, resulting in a failure. I switch to autoattack with /meleehit when i'm busting lairs, or when the group is killing so quickly i'm not having to tank.

Default attack is a misnomer. Default action would be better. Since i have to pay attention and hit my hotkeys during the fight anyhow, i just concentrate on using the apropraite skill for how much action i can afford at the time.
