I often hit Berserk and I see the HAM bars go down and the point cost float up above my head, but I sometimes don't get the Berserk icon and damage bonus. Is there a chance to fail this based on low skill level, and I've noticed you can drain your HAM down to nothing if you spam the Berserk button, is that supposed to be the way this skill works?

This does happen, don't know if it is skill, but it won't happen if you berserk right before you attack.

Yeah sometimes instead of going Berzerk, you just sh*t your pants.

Then usually it will work.....who wouldn't go crazy after doing that?

yeah i've noticed it doesnt fail that often if you berzerk before you get into a fight

and if you get a doctor buff, the ham cost isnt really an issue though

If you ever look in your combat window when you try to bersek and don't, you see a message that says something along the lines of 'You attempt to go berserk but are to calm'. I don't know, but when there's a large pack of aggros running me down and I'm still only at Unarmed III, I don't think I'd be able to stay calm.

yes, much how a carbine special can take up HAM but still MISS its' target, i guess if you wanted to logically define why, i guess they dont see your warcry or perhaps you mess up on your warcry (voice cracking )

Look at your combat log after doing it. I forget exactly been a long time but I think it says something like "your not angry enough" or something of the sort.
