Thread: So what are the rules, anyway?

So, I was at the terminals looking for a bounty a couple nights ago. I thought I might relax and take one around 100k for fun, but those guys tend to always run and hide. I hate when they do that, so I figured a higher-level Jedi (around 200k) would probably stay and fight it out. So I pick one that's online and not on Kashyyyk (ends up as 198k.)

I track him to his house on Lok and he's inside it. He's not really "house-hiding" in the negative sense because he didn't know I was after him, so I hang back as far as I can while still seeing his waypoint on the overhead map. I eventually got to screwing around in front of the shuttleport which was next to the cantina (playing around with people in front of it, etc.) Then I notice he's about to move. So I get ready near the starport, as I figure he's going to come here. He stopped past the cantina, and stood there frozen for a sec. I guess he figured out what was going on, so he ran inside the cantina. I thought "Ah, damn it. He's probably going to log." So I run to the cantina and guess what I find... no "Red Door of Anger"! Man, could this guy be THAT stupid? Apparently so. I dash in and find him sitting down on the floor -- as in, logging out.

I open fire on him, and I guess he cancels his logout procedure because I'm ejected from the cantina. We start fighting outside for a while, and the whole thing lasts maybe 30 to 45 minutes. In that time, his buddies are spamming ride offers and the mark is cussing his head off. As time goes on, I notice that they continually tell me to "just give up" because I supposedly won't win. Obviously, my mark's force bar must be running low, since he's spamming heal, KDand root like nobody's business. So then he cranks on FR3 and hides in his house and logs.

I shrug and go off and do my own thing. The next day, he's online. I track him to one planet but he quickly moves, and I find him on another. He was buying a ticket at Keren Starport. I figured that Keren would be a good place to land because it's such a crap town, and apparently, I got unlucky and he was there at the ticket terminals. I came up behind him with my Proton Carbine in hand and opened up. The fight, as earlier, moved very quickly outside, where he tried to run across the river and stuff like that. Eventually he ran away to some other starport and went back to Lok.

I chased him back to his house (didn't even need to launch a seeker to figure that one out...) and I send him a tell to come on out. He then tells me that talking to him is harassment, although he's talked to me before I even talked to him.So what's the deal with this? I've never heard of this as a rule anywhere, and I'm definitely going to keep hunting him until one of us kills the other.

Yeah, I figured he was just saying whatever he could to save his skin, but I remember hearing someone mention something like this on the forums once, so I wanted to check.

Only thing against the rules I saw was that he ran inside after he attacked back. A mutual TEF was supposed to prevent him from doing so.

As far as conversations with marks go, the fewer words said the better. From what I can tell you didn't say anything wrong, but things get heated and you can quickly find yourself saying something not so nice.

I think his buddies offeringyou rides should be considered harrasment if not bordering on exploit. I generally never talk to my mark until after it is dead though.

Hehe. I always make sure not to say anything offensive, because they would love to /report it.
