Try not spamming the same special.

Different specials are on different timers, so alternate between the two.

yeah, what he ^ said. You'll notice if you spam the same special it has a cool down timer. Technically you can hit off another special if you want before that timer is up but if you just want to use one particualr special....like startle shot, then yeah you are going to be waiting for over 3 secs.

I noticed last night that after spamming the same special it wouldn't fire anymore until I hit another one first...

Some cool-down timers affect others, some are independent, and some are the same. After certain Doc specials, there is a long cool down before anything else can be done. Sometimes you can see your cool-down timers "hang" because some actions have a built-in delay after them that delays anything else.

In PvE, I use the default attack (Ranged attack) as my auto-attack. It's on a very short timer which seems to be separate from the others. You can alternate Ranged Attack and damage attacks and hit quite a bit faster than spamming Critical Shot. It also saves those precious action points.

Sorry if I made my question misleading...........I'm not spamming the same special...........I always alternate between three specials and then i'll spam the default attack ONLY if i have to conserve action. But anyways, the reason I'm asking is because someone in the carbine forums replied to a post tellinga guyto damage slice (as opposed to speed slice) his carbine, stating that the speed isn't all to important because specials are capped at three secs. The speed on the carbine was 2.51 by the way........So having said that, is what that guy said true.........would bringing down the speed of a weapon to a rediculously low level eventually not even help the warm-up/cool-down time of specials???

damage and accuracy are king.... except that the joke (SAC) can screw you. Speed... that's like the Ace in black jack (it can be two things)... if you are only a single ranged proffession... it's good to have a fast gun, but if you are MBH/M range proff.... then you are already super fast on speed, so that Ace is more like a 1 point card.... ain't worth crap to get you to 21.

BTW.... higher accuracy INCREASES your damage closer to max ever shot.... lower accuracy (or higher defense on opponent) lowers your damage closer to min... so if you are fighting high level NPCs and Jedi.... your Min damage may actually be MORE important than your max (ask a MDef with aura how much ranged def he has)

I noticed when I sliced my pronton carbine for speed....the damage raised.....did it again..damage raised more...I may be wrong but I think the speed on the weapon counts towards your DPS not the time it takes to use specials...can anyone confirm? take this as most likely wrong as I am jsut guessing

sirshaggs, slicing your speed DOES raise your DPS, but most people don't really like taking DPS into consideration because it doesn't account for specials

so can anyone out there answer my question.....about the 3 sec cap??
