Thread: A couple ideas how to turn SWG around if the DEV's listened... -.-

It is obvious that things are going the wrong way when tons of people are quitting the game then the DEV's try and "improve" the gameplay by expanding rapidly. But in fact, they are creating more bugs which ruin it, and bring more questions to the CSR's in chat, and the constant threads which include "I am quitting."

[Start Whine]

1) About the Change of CU:

If the DEV's thought about it logically, why would you change the CU when the pre-CU was fine the way it is? I canguarantee that they lost at least 20 subscribers due to this error, and they have no intention to return the old CU. So wouldn't it be possible to have something in the option where you can choose which CU that you use? I had this idea in my head once I heard how terrible the new upgrade is, and have told a couple people in chat but they simply reply with "No one cares what we think." If it is at all possible, I don't see the problem with doing it this way, that way people have a choice.

2) About the Pub21 Group Exp Change:

Grinding a Jedi, I guess, is hard as is. From what I hear, it can take months with the current system to become a full template, which is understandable, but using the new system would take YEARS... From What I see with this new system, it will take forever to grind any profession. Just imagine trying to grind through Jedi while getting 100exp, when you used to get 900. Just imagine unlocking Jedi, which from my understanding takes 15 weeks to get through the Phases. So 3-4+ months to unlock it, and a couple months to grind with the current system, would be 5-6 months if you have the time to grind all out. With the Pub21 system, it would take you 9 times as long as it previously have would. You can do the math.

I don't see the problem with the current EXP system as it is. Jedi could use a new system, which could make it harder to obtain.

3) About the Bugs infesting the game (Not the critters):

The DEV's are rapidly trying to expand SWG. They think by expanding it, more people will buy it, and pay so that they can make more. Well, they are wrong. I see hundreds of "I am quitting" threads, and only a couple "Returning." Why? Playing the game is simply useless when you are doing a quest, and at the very end it happens to be bugged. How BH's terminals show Online and Offline Jedi, so it is practically impossible to find a Jedi online. That and some sort of experimentation bug which messes up AS/WS completely. I don't see a point in playing if 95% of what you do result in having a bug looking you in the eye. It seems everytime they expand with a new quest, or expansion, there are more things wrong than there are being improved.

Is there even a point on releasing a patch, when you have stated there will be a bugged that will be released with it, if it is not fixed by the launch? It is a never ending path of problems it seems. You come up with ideas, make it possible and do it in a hurry. Why not postpone the patch until the "bad" is fixed, and I am sure the people who play wouldn't mind as long as it does not cause more problems.

4) About the Condemned Deeds:

I hear a few people saying that they should do something about the massive amounts of Vendor Tents condemned in the center of a player city. The DEV's could free up a lot of the room if they set a limit to how long the condemned deeds could be set. Maybe they could sit there for a month, and then be completely deleted to clear up room for others to move in.I know this issue is not as large as the bugs or the change of CU and EXP system, but it is one of those things which can be done slowly and still have an effect.

[End Whine]

*** I admit, the game is enjoyable, and a lot of fun, but there are spots that need to be fixed. The DEV's simply choose not to, are slow to, or can't seem to fix the problem.

This thread is mainly to express my ideas, at hope for a DEV to come to the board, see this and at least try one of them? I ask that you do not bash/flame/troll here. As I said, I highly doubt any of it will actually happen, and if you don't like it, big deal. A lot of people most likely wouldn't like what you have to say either.

The problem is, man, that like in any job, there are committies, boards, and bosses to get approval from before you can START working on something.

The deal here is that they have to recognize a bug, research its cause, find its case, research a fix, present the fix to the appropriate "boss" and sell them on the fix. Then you have to Develop the fix, test the fix, (this can be painstaking cause it can often take two or three of these cycles to truly fix the bug)and then push the fix to live. THEN, they have to sift through the NUMEROUS "you nerfed my profession, and now im quitting" posts to find true bugs.

Now, on another note, I think dividing up xp in groups is STUPID. I am a fully templated jedi, so i hope that I am going to be happy with my template. Maybe i should grind out 4 mill xp so i can change my template easier if this fix does go live.

This is the only part I want to comment on. This whole pre-CU/ post-CU thing has been addressed many many times. The fact is, overall, the CU is much better. Sure, there were things we all liked about the game before CU, but those days are gone. We have a whole new world of content with the wookie expansion, and yet another expansion coming soon. The new stuff is dependant on the current platform. It will not be going back, not now, not ever.

As far as lost subscriptions, well, there are new people coming in for every person that leaves. SOE did lose ALOT of people. But guess what.. they got even more people to play. If a few people quit, oh well, SOE pitches a campaign, and guess what, more new people. It is a cycle, and change is all part of the MMO experience.

Running 2 systems in the game is not good for anyone. The devs are having a challenging enough time dealing with one, much less two. There is a huge problem with trying to implement 2 game platforms. One, they cant co-exist together, and it would be impossible to support both, and the most important... SOE has mucho dinero invested in this CU. Sorry bud, like it or not, SWG is moving forward.

You know... maybe, just maybe, if you would offer ideas that could be solutions to the current game, your ideas might be heard. The CU is good for SWG, and good for us. It just needs some tweaking.
