It's late afternoon and the sun is setting over the desert dunes. He knows it will be a long, cold night. Tracking is always hard, and a jedi mark makes it even harder.
He looks at his chrono counter. He's late. Jumping on his all-black swoop, he speeds off to Anchorhead to meet with another in a line informants. This one, a dirty little Twlik dancer, was way past her prime, but still a useful informant.
As he reaches the outskirts of Anchorhead, a nagging feeling of dread comes over him. The last time he had this feeling, a dirty little bounty hunter by the name of Barfly had sabatoged his ship en route to snagging the infamous Han Solo. That payout would have let him take a real long vacation.
Barfly should have known that Solo was a mark that even the great Fett would have had problems with.
He snapped himself out of it, and realized something didn't feel right. Slowing down and coming in on foot seemed the best option.
He has heard of the mark before, another in the neverending line of jedi by the name of Rattl'r. He wonders what this one has done to the Empire to warrant a 5 million credit payout.
As he heads around the shuttle port , he hears the faint sound of blaster fire. Knowing his mark has to be involved somehow, he races toward the action. He knows most of the bounty hunters love to catch their marks in the arrival area.
When he rounds the corner , he ducks instinctively as a bolt of energy is diverted his way. The battle he sees is complete chaos. A lone jedi surrounded by 7 bounty hunters.
Of course they're all new to this kind of work, but something in the galaxy has changed. There has been an influx of new bounty hunters all over the place and for that matter, a hell of a lot of jedi.
No matter, though. They are all rookies and the jedi is a fearsome opponent, even for as skilled a hunter as he.
Watching the fight unfold, he can't help but think this jedi is a person of great strength and honor. His moves are fluid, like a beautifully choreographed dance. He uses his incredible skills against the fledgling hunters, slowly breaking down their resistance. He strives not to kill them, but to take them apart piece by piece. His ultimate goal is to strip them of both pride and dignity, and to reduce them to shriveled little chumbas.
He scans the battlefield. Only 3 of the 7 novices remain standing, and he has yet to be spotted. In the shadows, he gets into position and aims his trusty T-21. The jedi's face is in his crosshairs, yet he zooms in even tighter, aiming for the sweet spot. Right between the eyes. Quick and painless, simple. The jedi won't feel a thing. One shot to the head, and he'll be on his way to Naboo in time to sip a fruity drink while the sun sets.
Rattl'r,a jedi of the light, has come to Anchorhead in the hopes of tracking and killing an ancient krayt. He aims acquire the rare krayt pearl, an item that will help in the making of a new light saber.
He has been running from bounty hunters and the Empire for nearly 2 weeks with no break to be had nor seen. The jedi code should be changed to "no rest for the weary".
He should have known that taking on an imperial stockade would put him on the top of the Empire's list.
As he steps of the shuttle and looks around the Anchorhead starport, he can feel 7 people with not-so-good intentions toward him. Knowing that had these been well-trained hunters, he would have never sensed them brings a smile to his face.
Much like the great jedi boom of late, the hunters have also had a great increase in their numbers. For a second he wonders how this has happened. But only for a second. A fight is at hand and even though they're new to this, their numbers do help them.
Striding toward their exit, a blue bolt crackles through the air, scorching the atmosphere around him. He stops and gets into his all too familiar fighting stance. Seven hunters jump out of the surrounding area to all but incompass him.
Now the jedi smiles outwardly. He knows his foes have no chance. Stepping back and pivoting his foot , he lunges at the closest of the hunters, bringing his right hand palm-up to the hunter's shoulder. Too quick for the first to react, he goes down with a shattered shoulder blade.
He unclips his light saber and snaps his wrist. All 6 hunters hear that "snap, hiss!" and watch as the blue- green blade comes to life. All of them have heard about the jedis and their weapon of choice, but none have been in the presence of one, let alone a fight with one!
The jedi can sense their indecision and fear. He knows the fight is already won.
As the hunter watches the fight unfold, he knows the time has come to take his shot. 5 hunters down, only 2 remain. He steadies his aim. Just as he squeezes the trigger, a loud crack and the smell of scorched skin overwhelm him. He rolls over to see who has put the bolt squarely in his back, and is shocked at who he sees: One of those damn new hunters! How could I have let a rookie sneak up on me like that?! What a way to go out, and on this damn planet, at that! He laughs to himself and closes his eyes. The fight for him is over.
As the jedi prepares to take the last 2 hunters down , he hears a shot from the back end of the star port. he watches as a hunter rolls over and then leaves this world. Another hunter stands over him, pistol in hand. As much as the jedi hates these hunters, killing is something he cannot tolerate.
With this new threat and the 2 still in front, the jedi realizes he can't keep this up. More will come, and a squad of storm troopers will be here any second. Using his powers, he force pulls all the weapons the hunters are holding and force runs out of the starport. Reaching the shuttle area, he sees an all-black swoop. Jumping on it, he's on his way. He'll never know how close he was to having a master hunter take his head off.

I think that a few line breaks in there would probably help out those who don't read as many 'real' books as they should...

So...

A for content

b- for editing....

overall : E for excellent/entertaining

B for another bump .....
