Thread: PERMA DEATH
As if there isn't enough talk out there on perma death and other bugs with droids. This is my soap box discussion about droid death.
ADroid is a mechanical unit. You've seen the good 'ol R2 and C3PO get jacked up in the movies many times and they've gotten repaired. Key word being repaired. Could we, being the devs, please re-evaluate this issue. Right off the bat I would think that a mechanical object shouldn't die over an organic object. Not raising that nerf flag on pets, but this really doesn't make sense to me at all. Even makingdroids incapwitha DE having to repair them makes more sense then perma death.
I hope this messages reaches someone who is capable of doing something about it. Please add your comments about this and bump for a dev response. (holding breath)
(Steps off the box) Who's up?
Ubofet
Yep. Make the droid corpse lootable and storeable. Take it back to your friendly neighborhood DE who will fix it up and put on a shiny new coat of paint.
For a modest fee, of course...
Droids are mechanical beings. When incapped, they should have the ability to be stored and "repaired", making perma death a non-issue.
Faction pets are humans/humanoid/living beings. When killed in combat, they stay dead. Makes sense.
I'd like to hear the reasons why CH pets do not perma die, out of pure curiosity - this is not a flame! Any ideas? It just doesn't click for me ...
If pets don't permadie and that doesn't click with you, well in that perspective.. characters that don't perma die don't quite click with me
See the problem? Thought so...
I suppose if your droid took a week after creating it to "grow" into its full stats you might be a little more concerned about it possibly dying permanetly. I won't argue getting the resources and crafting is harder than just walking out of town to get your pet. I suppose if just any random resource would do that would be the same anology. But anyway...
Remember Luke was a main character (player, not faction pet although if I wanted to be really humorous...) but he was incapacitated all the time. My storm trooper is alive, why is he killed right out? My AT-ST is not, why can't I recover it for repair like your droid?
I can see the argument that says all pets die, regardless of make, model, or breed. But that would seem to make most of them useless instantly and I'm not sure it would improve the game any.
Now, now, Kwong, take a breath
Remeber when I said this was a flame? This also isn't a "OMFG nerf it!" whine, either. I was just trying to get reasons why CH pets are the only living pets that don't perma die. And as soon as you have an atomizer, go get them droids! *grin*
I just figured I'd come to the people that would have answers, that's all. I imagine you're used to being on the defensive from all the whiners that have been killed in PvP by pets, but I'm not one of them. I was just curious is all.
Safe hunting.
*sigh* no edit.
That should read "Remeber when I said this WASN'T a flame" ...
*bends over for the spanking*

Why don't characters die? And don't give me that "clone" crap, we all know that's a cheat - even in Star Wars a clone takes a decade to grow.
Incidentally, pets DO die - just like you throw away a weapon when it's stats drop and you can't repair it back to it's top stats, when a pet drops to 74% vitality, it's time for a new one.
Everyone keeps bringing up characters, but I'm simply making a pet comparison between droids, faction and creature. I'd just like to know why faction pets perma die, while CH ones don't. As for the vitality issue, are the "vitality packs" i've seen worthless?
Please, don't get ruffled! I'm simply trying to understand.
Pets being livig beings capable of growth and healing ( Pets Regnerate/heal, Droids do not) and should have the restration that is possible with a living system that can heal.
There's arguments to be made on both sides, but the game mechanics and the difficulty of aquiring the pets and maturing them (when was the last time you had trouble finding a starving droid engineer standing on a streetcorner offering to make droids for food?), the risk/reward really has to be applied.
My opinion, your mileage may vary..
droids and faction pets are tools, you can't use a driod to fight with you but you can use it to craft repair and heal. faction pets are bought for and are expendable their loss is irrelative.
CH's for the most part take the time to hunt for a pet some times die while trying to get said pet, spend alot of time training and hunting with their pets, if you were a CH you would understand
would be nice with perma death 2 creatures like on atst ..
then ppl would think more before using em
And it would be nice to have trolls like yourself avoid spewing their garbage on these message boards.
Seriously.
