Thread: It's time that we (The SWG community) need to get over the idea of Jedi being rare....

I've been seeing a lot of post about how Jedi were suppose to be rare, about how it doesn't "fit" the time line.

I persoanlly think it's about time for this idea to be put to rest. The Devs we have now are NOT the same Devs that started beta...Q3PO anyone? For whatever reason ($$$) the Devs and more importantly the producers decided to make Jedi as common, if not more so, then a Master Doctor.

What would people have the Devs do? Delete all Jedi accounts that....what, I don't even know how to finish that statement. It's just not going to happen, and Jedi are "unlocking" almost daily now. With the Kashyyyk issues, we are only going to see more Jedi in the future. When the Jedi population finaly gets to the point I cannot stand it any longer, I will quit. I don't know what level that is, but I'm sure I will know once it gets there.

So, basically we cannot turn back time, we will not get a "Jedi free" server, the Devs will not delete any Jedi currently on the servers, and the producers will not change Kashyyyk to slow the Jedi progression. The best thing to do with a situation we CHOOSE to place ourselves in, yet cannot change, is acceptance. I do hope many other players simply come to realize this.

/agree. But there is something the devs can do without canceling jedi accounts, permadeath, etc. Check out this post for a way to limit the number of jedi we actually see using FP in public:

Implement the ideas contained in the thread linked above, and I think we would all, jedi and BH, be happier and enjoy the game more

I hate the fact that the game has taken this road, but it s going to be like this whether we like it or not. What really kills me is that the devs have adopted the same point of view as the jedi, that all bh are just griefers at heart. I got a laugh out of the line about more jedi than master doctors. It is all to true that I have had my wounds healed by jedi almost exclusively. Only once since the CU have I had wounds healed by a doctor - and most of the time without having to ask. Its just some random jedi in the MO that hits me as I walk by.

special rules servers have been requested in the past, they always reject the idea.

Then we should also get over the idea that they should be more powerful than normal professions.

What the guys in charge dont seem to be thinking about its what coming down the road. Say in another 6 months time.

I dont know the facts but im sure that the new intake on this game is slowly getting less and less as the game gets older and new games come out. So whats gonna happen everybody will be jedi's and getting bored of it then quiting the account.

The whole kash thing is just one big laugh a safe haven for jedi's to grind away. I dont think i remember a world in the star wars film where jedi's were safe from the empire do you ?

Where is the game going? will there begnomes and eleves soon.. ? maybe if there is money in it ?

Be the first to become a gnome jedi and grind safely underground.

- It's time the devs end the bitter fighting by giving the community a Non Jedi server. We have a few servers with TINY populations that could be changed to this ruleset. I support this idea because it punishes noone. - You can support it too. Click Here!

They can please both sides. Make one of the low populace servers non Jedi and watch that server be the highest population server ever.

Rare, no. Visible, yes. Impact on the rest of the game, yes. Those are things we can influence.

The basic question is, do the devs consider Jedi the "endgame" or do they consider it a "special trophy"? If they seriously consider Jedi the endgame, then SWG is heading down a one-way, dead-end path, IMO. Everyone serious abou the game will have a Jedi within a year, as that will be the only way to see the endgame content. The GCW will finally be buried with a stake in its heart and mouth full of salt. And the rest of the game will be obsolete. The only purpose of any other class will be to support the Jedi character duringhis grind.

Mudflation, stagnation, cancellation. A lot of work was put into the initial design to avoid that... a dynamic economy and the GCW were intended to be the endgame.

On the other hand, if a Jedi character is a special reward... not something everyone serious about the game NEEDS to pick up... then it is completely appropriate that there be in-game systems (visibility, player bounties, PvP rewards and penalties, NPC "crackdowns") that limit their influence on the rest of the game.

Just my 2 cr.
