Would commando grenades do any good against jedi.

in the notes for Pub 24, regarding Commando improvements, it mentions that Commando Grenade damage will be improved. Does that apply to existing crates (ie, Imp Dets) or only newly crafted ones?

I believe Starnick popped in here and reported that it will only apply to new grenades, and the uses are being upped from 5 to 10.

Whenever changes like this in regards to our weapons fly, that's always the case Im afraid...

I'd really wish they had given some love on the crafting side of our weapons with Publish 24, which would've aided both of our professions in this transistion. There was talk from Rogue_5 that the grenade changes could be made as retro fixes, but I believe there was a technical issue involved. It might still be a possibility (maybe part of the delay?), however the last dev-bit I've recieved leaned towards a "no".

Any time they want to change existing objects' stats, they have to run a script on their databases loading each and every copy of that object, changing the stats, and saving it. And this means every copy, even those buried in the bank boxes of players who quit years ago. And they have to attach the modified crafting scripts to every crate containing the object.

Oh, and the item database is probably not indexed by object type (looking for "all proton grenades" is not something you usually do in gameplay), so you actually have to touch every object, on the chance that it might be a grenade.

As everyone knows who was there for the item conversions for the CU and shortly after, this takes time. Eight hour downtimes and more. This is something you want to avoid because all other players who are not affected by the change will whine about not being able to play, asking for double XP etc. So unless you really need to take all old objects out of circulation, you don't do it.

There would be one alternative...something like the pet trade in program they used to have. Take the old grenades to the commando trainer and exchange them for new ones...but that would take a lot of dev time so they usually dont do it that way either.

Need a killer recipe for these whether its post cu or pre cu. Guy name Smoki talked bout venom tips or something and glops doing 2900 damage. Any of you have a killer recipe such as this..need details because Im not a WS but want to instruct my WS what to make them with.. Thnks Tarkien (Tarq)

LOL ya did kinda ramble...anyways here is the post I was talking bout. The guy said he was getting insane damage with them..Check it out and if its possible i'll be bringing some biz.
