My understanding from the description of the attack is that it reflects ranged damage back to the opponent. So if you're fighting a Jedi who is melee...it doesn't appear to be a good move.

right, so the +160 defenses it adds does no good, got it.
I personnaly have it running every time I am not pressed for action.

It's got some use against those paddies who whip out the laser rifle when you come for them. I suspect, though I can't verify personally, that it has similar effacy against saberthrow and powers attacks.

The damage reflected is hardly any factor here (we're talking 25ish dmg), the good part is that it adds 160 melee/ranged defense. I only use it when rooted.

Don't forget powers are ranged...

Duelist stance works fine for both melee and ranged damage. But since lightsabers have very close damage ranges where the min damage is almost identical to the max damage, NO defenses mitigate significant damage from a lightsaber. For Jedi fights the only thing that is mitigating damage is armor or food.

very good for PvE. I have it in my build primarily for this reason.
As Crash752 has said, tho, against saber jedi, it's probably a wasted move. Saber dmg ranges are about 100pts, so the difference between a max dmg hit and a min dmg hit is not all that much.
