Do people think its best to master carbines or pistols ? in reflect to the new carbine (proton i think its called)

I'm master carbineer and love it. The E11 Mark 2 is the bomb, better than proton carbine as far as I'm concerned

So I got MBH and Master Carbs with novice doctor as well, 'm wondering if I should switch to pistolsover carbines for the root. Currently I use a Proton Carbine and an Impoved Scatter Pistol, the dps on the proton carbine is about 100 higher than on the pistol. I'm also using this setup to get fs for the village as well as doing bounties (mostly npc's not too many jedi).

I found that MRifles would be better than MCarb. Damanage out put is higher with the rifle abilities. Only thing that Mcarbs has over Mrfiles is battle armor which is good againts all damange but not uber like Recon or Assault. Only time battle armor would be good is if they start non jedi player missions.

I am thinking about going to MPistols and dropping Rilfes. Not sure yet. The regrind will take some time(would save token for respec back if it sucks)

I did consider rifles because I here it helps when going up against mel when you finish the village, which I will be doing in the next couple weeks, but I hated rifles pre-cu.

First off, your DPS on that Proton Carbine is a lie. It takes elemental damage into consideration, which isn't working, and DPS is misleading from the word go anyway because it uses Min Damage (useless) and Speed (diminished returns the faster it gets) in the calculations.

That being said it might still be better than the Scatter you've got. You need to look at the SAC of both, the Max Damage of both (elemental to be fixed soon, hopefully), and then finally compare the Speed. A difference of a tenth of a second will make a huge difference in the shown DPS, but will not be a factor in actual combat.

I'm MBH/MM/MP/Carbine 0300 and I have a blast, but I can't speak for how good MC is. My Scatter pistol is 948 Max damage, 77 SAC, Speed 2, Acc 14without a Pup, so I have no interest in going MC, but your experience might be different. You might also want to consider Rifleman, as you can do some devastating attacks at Master. Just remember to food stack, and use the bliel/stim combo to keep your healing up. Everything else is pretty profession specific. Good luck!

the modified dps on my proton carbine is 522, the modified dps on my scatter pistol is above 400 somewhere so the 100dps I gave before was an approximate value I don't have everything memorized. I did not realize dps was misleading though, its a new value to me, I haven't played since before the cu. If I need to use foods as a rifleman I don't think its for me, never had to use them much before, maybe a little brandy but thats it. The fewer crafted items I need to use the better I find them hard to find now.

I would also like this question answered, I was just going to start a new post but I will use this one so that info will not be missed. I was going to use my respec to pick up MBH (used to be a MBH when the game first came out) but I dont know what other professions to pick up as well.

I would be doing PvE and no PvP bounties.

I have been looking at the Carbineer tree and thinking that it would be a good one. I am trying to get threw the village right now as well. With MBH it looks like I can cap 3 skills (carbines, pistols and rifles) and get close to cap on combat exp before I would have to make a trip back.

Anyways if anyone has some thoughts on what gos best (or fits well enough).
