Thread: Killing Jedi In The Cu

Hey all, I recently came back to the game after quitting when the mess that is the cu came out.

Anyways, pre cu I dropped jedi daily, like nothing. Now they are ridiculously strong. Any advice of those successful hunters out there?

Keep in mind im a rifleman/mbh/cm3001. I use 8k energy armor and a shield. Have a 1100 max rifle, sac of 82.I toss a sac pu on it and fire at 62 sac.

Ive only managed to pull fully templated jedi missions, all have been mdef/mls so im sure there is my main problem but I should still be able to kill them. I was killing 4444 guardians pre cu, if theyve made it impossible to do so now imma flip.

Any words of wisdom?

I really hate to tell you this, but bounty hunters have been offing jedi much more easy now adays than ever due to jedi being incredibly inexperienced, and pve minded due to massive grinding, and way way underpowered sabers due to no crystal drops meaning perfect or premium pearls or crystals dont drop now.

You should be very successful now that so many newbie clueless jedi are out and about.

1st thing u gotta understand this is not pre-cu so u gotta get up and adapt
games changed so u must also if u wanna stand out, if not ull get nowhere

2nd thing is to evaluate ur temp and make sure its the right one for ut fighting style
if u like lots of dmg with less heals then keep what u got now but be aware that its
easier to kill u even tho u can do more dmg and possibly kill them faster
if u wanna have a safer bet mcm/mbh is a way to keep alive and do continous dmg over time
so u can have small chances to get in at that db while also killing force all the while

much more templates out there tbh but look at the balance between dmg and heals
get good foods and use ur surrounding and u should be good tbh

Jedi hunting Post-CU is more less about tracking and more about killing them....

I personally liked Pre-CU better due to the challenge, and alas I became Jedi to keep that challenge alive. (at least for me)

i feel your pain bro, almost all jedi on my server is mdef and they make a tough fight, atleast for me.foods is a biggie and i don't if you have your armor sliced for armor break or not but if you don't then get that asap. currently i've only got my helmet sliced due to cost. i also had a crital hit slice put on my carbine and i'm seeing alot more critial hits now so you might try that if your weapon is unsliced, i only did 3% slice on mine and can tell a difference. other than that i've not got much more advice as i'm still learning how to deal with mdef's myself.

Boba- Get a hold of me in game man. If we can put the guild war thing aside for a moment maybe we can even run a mission or two together and I can show you some things.

Your template is fine but you might want to consider one of two things:

Either Cm 4000

or Pick up Medic 0020 and Pistoleer 0004 (for improved stopping shot aka root)

Iam MBH/Mrifleman/Pistoleer 0004/Medic 0020and I have lost onlytwo missions in the past month (to var'locke and Specops). This template not only has worked forJedi missions, but it also withstands PvP battles fairly well. There are so many tactics available with this template its really going to boil down to how well you know your mark. If you're hunting Rebel Jedi, dont ask me because I will not help But if you decide on some Imperials or Neutrals I can help you out by letting you know their templates etc and where theyreside.

Your effectiveness will also be determined by the foods you choose. I always recommend Exo Protein Wafers over Synth Steak, Ruby B., Parawan Nutricake, Kanali Wafers, Blob Candy, Spiced Tea. I rarely recommend using Spice unless it's an emergency. I would also suggest a Health Buff Crystal if you have one handy as they'll help you out with longer drawn out fights when your stomache fills and you cant consume any more food/drink. The last drink you'd probablywant is that Deu. Pyro stuffthat gives ya another 200 accuracy.

First Strike Tactics:

If you know your mark well and are aware of his tactics, this may not be the best choice. There are some Jedi on our server I would never use this against because it would be a useless gestureagainst their templates. But, most Post-CU Jedi,eBayed Jedi, and newJedi do not know how to PvP for the most part and have 'cdef' quality sabers. Thegoal of thisfirst strike tactic is to kill your mark on your 'first strike, or close to.'I used to use Bomb Droids but have been experiencing bugs lately and juststopped using them for the most part unless my mark were afk in the middle of a lake for instance. Dont ever shuttle in to the same starport where you mark is located (if at a starport) as most Jedi will get the hint and instantly know they are being hunted. Go toa player city or nearby starport and drive in. If your mark is running missions, guess wherehe is pulling the missions from (usually a nearby player city) and head there. Plant your bomb droid by the mission terminal (avoid using mouse droids if possible). Name your Droid Lotto or something. Then, move away about45m (ill tell you why 45 instead of 60 later) and go prone and under cover, and wait. When your mark shows up to use the mission terminal wait a few seconds until you are sure the missions screen is up on his monitor so he's distracted looking for a mission. Detonate the droid. Drink your pyro, use advanced Aim, and sniper shot. followed by Underhand Shot (KD, and Startle Shot (delay shot), then adv critical and head shot. He should be dead already. If not, he'll either run, cloak, or charge you. I said 45m because of the time it'll take you to stand up. If he runs and youre60m, he's got a better chance of getting away. If I am using this tactic and I notice my mark is fully buffed, and hasa ton of foods activated...I'll check the timer on them all and plan my next move from there. If his stuff will run out in the next 10-15 mins, then it'll probably happen while he's out there grinding on the field..in which case the creatures will be doing more damage to him and you have a better opportunity to take him out. If he is not buffed or has foods I'll check his health bar. If it's 2800-2900 I will smirk andknow he's dead in two hits. Sniper shot can hit for really high dmg depending on circumstances. I have incapped Jedi in two hits.

Charge and Assault Tactic:

Patience has it's payoutsbut sometimes I know my mark's playstyle and I'll know that I would not be able to kill him with my first two shots or so no matter how I play it. So I will resort to the ride up on my bike and just start unloading on him tactic. But, there are some guidelines for this. First, I will only do this if he is being attacked and distracted. If this is the case I will usually be under cover and open up with a snipe shot anyway....just in case it lands just as his health gets low and giving me the chance for a one hit kill. After sniper shot I will KD my target and rush him. Unloading Crit and Head Show. I have tocharge immediately just in case he decides to run or cloak. If I determine this Jediis going to stick around and fight, then I'll change my style to a more kiting type. If he tried to flee thats when you gotta stick on him like flies on sh*t. If I have a pet handy and Im hunting a cloaker...Ill have the pet follow him. Noconfirmation on whether or not this works, but I do it anyway as it provides an extra distraction. Try to avoid using your KD shot and yourroot and here's why:

If he roots you or KDs you and charges to attack, you can either Root himso he cant get within saber range or KD him to buy you sometime unti the root wears off. If he manages to get to you and youre taking damage, you can try startle shot him and untarget as to buy yourself some time to land a couple heals on yourself and for the root to break so u can recover your distance. Or you can pop a exo protein wafer, duelist stance, and take it like a man if you dont want to waste the startle just yet. Sometimes Startle is good to save and use in order to prevent the Jedi from healing giving you a free shot to break it. And that free shot maymake the difference. If the Jedi does not have force run then obviously your knee cap shot is worthwhile. If force run is being used I wont even bother with it.

Parawan Nutricake- Your best friend. Dont use burst run until your stomache is full. If you use your innate BR ability then you wont be able to take cake until the cooldown on BR is expired. Parawan will let ya burst run for about 30 secs and is good for gettingoutta saber range and for chasing running Jedi.

Your weapon:

Forget about the SAC pup for right now anyway. Try a dmg pup anything to get your min dmg up. If it is not sliced, go for a speed slice if your dps isnt above 600 or so. Your armor is fine, get it 75% armor break sliced. I carry 3 rifles now and theyare in my toolbar for different purposes.
I have a sliced LD-1 rifle with a dmg pup since most jedi wear psgs nowadays. I have anALR with a dmg pup (1183 without pup, 82 or so sac, 1.5 or so spd.) and i have a trando rifle with a sac pup (1163 dmg, 60 sac, 1.45 spd)I will usually open up with the laser rifle and switch to my trando if my action bar is getting eaten up. I save the LD-1 for defenders or prolonged fights.

I hope some of this helps...I got a few more 'dirty' tricks if you're interested but we can chit chat in game some time.

One thing I want to add, Boba, and for the rest of you readig this. If you are an active PvPer, you will most likely be able to recognize which Jedi are also active PvPers. If you ride up to your mark and dont recognize his/her name, there's a greater chance this Jedi hasn't seen as much (if any) pvp and has no PvP talent whatsoever. These are the easiest kills but they are also the Jedi most likely to run upon seeing you.

Yea I appreciate the posts, I figure I had troubles merely because all the marks ive pulled have been mls/mdef. As ive killed a few jedi since being back, none on missions mind you but still. I think ill try a few missions tonight and try my luck.
