Thread: My solution to Removal of names at the terminals

What I think would fix this problem is to provide a command such as /target Bounty or something like this that would allow the BH to have a macro running such as the target macro's that many use. This would provide the BH the chance to still be able to have the first strike advantage and make this a little easier then tabbing around looking for the target

And please dont give me any BS guys about being a jedi. I have a MBH/Carbineer that I use all the time, Sometimes I even like playing the BH more than the jedi

I myself think that correct way to make these changes would have been to only display online jedi with their faction and keep the name there as it is. And I also would have liked visibilty to stay the same way it is now.

Bad idea. Players will use this when they land and not need seekers.

How could you use this when you land. When I go out hunting on my MBH I have a /target macro running right after I accept my mission that way if he or she is close I can start shooting before they have a chance to escape.

The main reason I can this being implemented is it does not allow the bounty hunter to get the marks name thus stopping griefing but still allowing the first strike to be taken by bounty hunters that might not like to stalk thier targets.

There are players on my server with names such as 'bountyhuntertutorial' 'bountyhunter--- etc'. Typing /tar bounty would target the player with the name that starts with bounty.

It would also target Bounty Hunter terminals.

What would you think of allowing the bounty hunter to get a name from either the Spynet Operative or the Probot?

As I understand it, this fix is to prevent people from repeatedly pulling missions on the same jedi, whoare for example, combatent helping take down their guild's PvE bases ...

By removing the name from the terminal but letting them get it from the Spynet Operative, wouldn't that mostly eliminate the aforementioned problem? It seems like this would make it plenty difficult to pull missions for specific jedi.

This "patch" is suppose to do a few things:

  • Stop BH gank squads (hence the no names)

  • Stop BH from targeting only lower level Jedi who are actually weaker then a double elite MBH (Hence generic 40k - 50k payouts with the bonus only being give at the completion of the mission

  • Stop people from dabbling in BH and picking up more powerful template then the DEVs were able to foresee (hence you must now be a MBH to pull player bounties)

  • Generally make a BH life harder as, SOE doesnt like it when another profession player base (BH)pisses off their "money child" profession player base (Jedi).

The logical thing to do would have been to:

  • Remove names from the terms and add it to the Arakyd droid stage (IE a BH picks the mission, hits up SpyNet, goes outside of town, and then calls down a Arakyd droid (involves a 30 sec wait for a MBH) and wait for the Arakyd droid to report the planet the bounty was found on (another min or so wait). This would have made getting more then one BH on the same mission almost impossible to intentionally do without the players in question wasting considerable time and resources.

  • Remove mission payout and replace with two categories. "Normal" (marks 200k and under) and "Elite" (marks over 200k). It is a compromise of sorts that prevents a MBH from targeting one specific payout range yet still allows the BH to avoid Jedi templates that he has little chance in winning.

The rest of the stuff I can live with... But the no names and no indication of "rank" is stupid.... Having to tab around in grps of players to find your mark only to have the Jedi in question see you coming from a mile away and already use the /duel exploit means that although you get the first hit, the Jedi already had the opportunity to run/cloak/buff ect. Using the /tar command was a tactical advantage that allowed BH to help gain the element of surprise and even track his mark without the mark knowing he was being followed.

The no rank system is equal to taking the mission level/payout off the normal mission terms and giving the average elite player a 80% chance or so in picking up a mission that is 10+ levels above what he is normally able to handle. That is just lame and it is just pandering to the Jedi cry babies who are pissed they couldnt power grind out their Jedi template in 2 weeks.

I would save your breath on "ideas" though. My "idea" thread was just deleted with no explanation given taking HOURS worth of people's time with it. The only time SOE listens is when enough people cry... So our only hope is when this system goes live, the BH community as a whole cries and cries loudly. This forum only represents a small % of the overall player base... So we will just have to see what happens after publish 20 goes live... But at this point, the DEVs arent going to make any changes to their "plans" as that would be out of character of them

Well from what I have seen from the DEVS is that once they say something like this is that there is no changing their minds on such issues so thats why I came up with this idea.

As far as the command /target bounty, I used this as a exsample I'm sure if they were to implement such an Idea it would not be this command.

I really see something like this being the only thing to since it would allow the Bounty Hunter first strike advantage which is something they should have .
