It is used in the success chance of "Take Cover"

Unfortunately, i doubt Take Cover even does anything......

I went in cover once. It was interesting. Then I got bored and never went in cover again.

with a little luck and a few friends, i can tank a whole baricade of stormtroopers while under cover (and dmg mitigation II) oh ya, and good buffs. buffs are key. as long as they dont decide to start meleeing me, im fine.

Well the flavor of this week is rifleman.

Is it just me is prone/cover and aggro screwed up? I'll be under cover while attacking a mob and have a mob spawn, it will aggro on me right away and start attacking. I also noticed a few other things cover seems not to be doing.

Once again

COVER DOES NOTHING TO CONCEAL YOU FROM THE TARGET

IT ONLY RAISES YOUR RANGED DEFENSE.

Ok Mr Crayon. Consealshot does the samething? My point if you read was that the mobs already spawned wont aggro but the new spawns would aggro at once. Dont you think this is a bug?

A) there are two other threads on the first page addressing cover, concealshot, and takecover.

B) if the creature spawns close enough to detect you by normal means other than you just shooting then yes it should attack you, if it is at a distance from you then no it shouldn't and is a bug, butI have never seen this personally

Mr. Crayon...LOL. but:

/agree with the Beamster.

You have to understand that we get at least a couple of posts a week witha question as to why things see them when they go into cover, and it does not matter how many times it is gently suggested that people need to read the description where it says that the skill adds to your defenses, but says nothing about hiding you. Therefore, please be grant us a little grace when, as Beamstalk did, we feel the need to emphasize that fact.

Either way, here are the factors you need to be aware of:

1. Cover, as stated, does nothing to hide you. It merely addes to your ranged defenses.

2. Concealshot does nothing to hide you. It merely prevents the target from autoresponding to your attack when you use Concealshot. Thus, it still can detect you and aggro on youby other means.

3.When you shoot something with Concealshot, you will still get a TEF, even though they do not "know" you are shooting them. This means that your chances of being aggroed increase some even if you use Concealshot because the target and its friends will be more aggressive towards you and aggression increases detection chances.

4. They added a concealment chance modifier a while back that gives riflemen a better chance of remaining undetected. The higher you are in the tree, the harder it is to detect you. This works with all the other detection checks, but never makes you invisible.

5. The change in December or there abouts made it so that, if a target has not aggroed on you because of the attack, then neither will the target's friends if it is a social mob. However, that does not mean that you cannot be attacked by the creatures friends just because you are using Concealshot and the target is not aggroed. They will all have their own checks against you andcan aggro on you even if the target does not.

Putting all this together, know that your best chances of using Concealshot come from being prone and at the max distance from all possible targets. Since missing twice will break the "conceal, " you want to balance that by being within your weapon's ideal range if possible. This generally means you need to be at about 50 - 60m from your target and that far, if possible, from any of its friends. Closer than 40m will greatly increase your chances of being detected. Kneeling even at max range makes you a little more detetctable. Standing is your worst option. Although, the key is that you can continue to use Concealshot as long as you are not detected by other means, so even standing at close range may work on some creatures. You just optimize your chances, say, prone and at 60m or so. Also, a Master Rifleman, because of a higher concealment chance, will remain undetected longer than a Novice Rifleman even when using regular shots, so the higher your concealment chance, the slightly better chance you have against other checks. But again, you will never be invisible to any Mob.

Since it is being prone, not being in cover, that makes you less detectable and since most creatures use melee attacks, not ranged attacks, do not bother using cover for this skill. It is a waste of time and HAM for this. Finally,be aware that for any attack, there is a slight chance a small random bleed will occur. This is also true of concealshot. If the bleed occurs, when the bleed ticks off, the creature will aggro on you just like any actual bleed shot. So keep an eye out for a bleed icon showing up. If it does, you are going to be detected and will want to change strategies. Like move out of range of any of its friends so that only that creature aggros on you (i.e., bleeds can be used to single pull creatures).

It seems to me that cover bonus isn't being applied to fresh spawns in not at all or in the wrong order.

When you have multi spawns out and they dont aggro but when a fresh spawn comes out at the same range or even father and it agrros. Somethings a miss I think. See if this was happing at 20m or 30m I could start to understand it but at 50m to 60m I dont.

ARe there multiple levels of cover? (ie improved/advanced) If so, can anyone tell me if just having the first works? I feel that when tracking a bounty, this skill could be awesome to have, just hide in a corner, go invisible and watch your target, and not have them know your there. any answers?

Shhhh damnit....this was going to be something I was going to use after the CU. I don't want it to "catch on". I don't think there is anything other then the standard "cover". There is a better concealed shot, but I think that's for NPCs. The only thing I'm worried about is that Jedi will have a "work around" for it. I'll be 60m out from a known Jedi house, and they will "sense a disturbence in the Force", the Jedi will walk right up to me (becuase I'm on the Jedi radar) and ask me, "What the hell are you doing? Giving away free FSR?"

jedi can go invisible as well. apparently they can use the "force" to alter their molecular structure and become clear. whereas a rifleman has to hide in surrounding cover.
