Thread: Publish 24 NPC marks changes Tested on TC READ

People said that the NPC marks that we kill are too easy, and the devs have made changes in the upcoming publish 24. The changes are that the high-end NPC marks (elites and bosses) will now use high-end special attacks. So that means they will use the high end damaging attacks for whichever profession that NPC mark is. (If they are carbineers they will use improved leg shot, etc.)


I am not worried that the marks will be much tougher now because they will be able to do the same attacks we can do and if you have a NPC boss mark with a GOOD carbine and he's CL 82 with a 36k ham, and he starts using those high end damaging attacks then it will be twice as difficult to kill him now. I'm not complaining...I think it will be great as there will be great battles with the marks with these changes.


However I have one concern:


Devs...please tell me that with these changes that whenever a 36k ham boss mark fires off his specials repeatedly that he will lose action just like we do? Someone said something on the test center about that the marks not being in comparison to us. Meaning that when the boss mark starts using those high-end specials...they weren't losing any action so essentially they could keep on firing specials endlessly.


Please tell me that these marks will lose action/mind when they do their attacks. If we have to lose it, then the NPC marks should as well.


Just a concern.



I just saw this post on the testing forums section from a player called Starmage:



Fought 3 CL82 gold elite bounty marks.


mark 1- Hit me with a stopping shot, then charged my position and switched to Pike melee. Immediately stuck me with an armor break and intimidate. I was KD'ed once more before fight ended.Over all it took me maybe 30 seconds longer to kill the mark.


mark 2- Hit me with charging shot and KD'ed me. Then the mark assumed the duelist stance. It appeared to be working good for the mark. About 30 seconds later the mark tried charge shot again and it failed. Mark lost duelist stance and immediately reset it. I was stunned once and KD'ed once more before Mark was killed. Added about 30 seconds to my fight.


mark 3- Mark hit me with charging shot and stopping shot, both took effect. Mark also used duelist stance. This mark was very unsuccessful after that with getting specials to stick. I killed this mark about as fast as before.


Overall- I am enjoying the tatics of a one on one mark fight now more than ever. I wouldn't disagree with the AI being upped a little. I still have no fear of dieing while doing the Highest Mark I can get.


Bad thing- NPC's are not using action when doing specials.

Devs....NPC marks are NOT losing action when they are doing their specials. FIX THIS before you make this publish live please.

if they are going to start doing this, they really need to check the action use and regen of the npc marks.

as a cm, several of my skills are useless against these marks (great for figting jedi tho).

Which attacks are useless against the NPC marks? I just finished getting MCM last night but haven't taken any NPC BH missions yet with my new template.

Apparently there is another concern as well.... I have seen in the TC discussion....

Specifically these new NPCs use specials that range across several professions that would be impossible to get given only 250 skill points...

I am more concerned about that...

You mean specials like an NPC using last ditch from the smuggler profession? That would be a huge concern..wouldn't it?

Actually they are using action, it's just their regen rate is insane. You can verify this by KD'ing them, then watch their action go down as they use kd recovery, then instantly go up again. There is already a focus thread on NPC AI in the "in concept" forum (I think), there are lots of suggestions there, I proposed lowering their HAM and regen rates if they're successful in making the NPCs fight "smart".

They have it now on TC so the NPC's are getting to use specials from a number of different mastered professions. 5 to be exact on some NPC's. This goes way past the 250 skill point mark that we get. They need to fix this so it's more realistic.


If we can't do it, the NPC's shouldn't be able to. Point blank. Period.

Attacks that affect regeneration (Traumatize and Hemorrhage, I think) are useless vs. NPCs because their action / mind pools never come into play.

Unfortunately due to limited NPC AI, mobs will always need to "cheat" to pose any sort of challenge.Until they get to a point where a NPC mob can root andpull out hisswoop bike to get awayfrom you when close to death, thus failing your mission (am sure no one would like this)... programmers will alwayshave to resort to artificial means, ex. increased ham, regen etc...to compensate for lack of AI.

I am actually concerned this may make the npc missions much harder already it takes me 15 minutes or slow to put down a 38k Double gold elite. I am MBH/MCH/ranged healing 4. So its a tedious process. The marks are plenty hard now the entire hunting of NPC marks which has gotten more fun with decent loot might actually be made too cost prohibitive. I cannot afford to buy a new set of armor every 3 missions. I cant afford to spend a fortune on foods powerups the obvious sliceing travel insurance cloneing and vehicle repair to do a npc mark. Just doing general math I will come up makeing what 5 or 6k.


If that happens then watch out players are smart they will stop doing BH missions and not have anything to do. That means either hunting jedi the standard annoyand greifing game, or actually drop MBH to get invest 3 in an attempt to get non boss mob marks. For me its the damned regen rate that gives me fits on these things. Some of them heal for 100 points of damage a second atleast thats my guess since my 117 damage kimo takes forever to clear them of a 100 which is basically a 17 point net gain.


I already dread boss mobs because they rarely reward you with decent loot compared to the others, but its a long tedious process. Thinking a few weeks back when it took me more then a hour to kill one boss who was level 82 double gold bracket. I am seriously concerned I like the new missions but feal that it will become a chore more then a fun diversion. I do not want to waste good play time hunting down armor vendors and chef vendors and spice vendors. Thats not fun.
