I was doing some testing last night with the DS to see how much it helped. +250 def seemed real nice....and i been only using it when rooted. i had a jedi friend hit with his hardest hit......600 or something.....i then applied DS....same exact numbers...he missed only 1 out 6 attacks. i could have swore that when i first started this temp i did the exact same check and remember a drop in damage.

Anyone else noticed this.....i might have just had a bugg....

Always somthing

personally i only used duelst stance for fire back, and to increase the likely hood of an attack take, ie kd. duelest lkd duelst crit shot

so ive never really payed attention to def

In fact its very useful against jedi. The extra ranged def will make the jedi hit you less and for a lil less damage too.

Its an old rumor that it wont help.

Thanks tonie....but i fail to see and advantage of this when there is no damage change from it....unless it increases the chance for them to miss....that might be the only way....

There is a lot of controversy on this, I am going to try and record combat spatial that shows before duelist and after. I can be getting hit for 800+ without it and 600 with it. Sometimes its dramatic sometimes not so much, maybe its bugged I don't kow but I swear by it. Many other BHs do as well.

I did a test one night with a Jedi friend.

No armor, hit me for 450

+16 melee defense bando, hit me for 450

Duelist Stance, hit me for 440.

Duelist stance reduces damage.

Fight a Jedi for 30 minutes and all those low numbers will add up into the thousands of points of damage. You can save one entire health bar , from full to incap , if you run a dueilist macro for 30 minutes. of course it's useful.

I seem to remember it saying (somewhere around the time the CU hit) that DS was strictly for ranged attacks. I've noticed a significant amount of damage reduction when using DS and going up against ranged opponents, however like most of the other posters, no damage reduction when fighting Jedi or melee attackers. I don't have numbers to back this up yet, but enough of a change where I took notice.
