Just thinking, has anyone experimented with testing which is more effective,wearing recon armour or maxing out on melee defense?

I was thinking about this as I dueled a guildie pikeman the other day and he hardly took any damage and proceeded to incap me, which was something of a shock I can tell you. He was wearing no armour but has ridiculously high ranged defense mods.

After this I am even considering using my token respec to go over to pikeman!
